I just got the LAN adapter for my wii cause we don't have wi-fi at wolf village. I can't get it to connect though. I know the connection works with my computer, I just don't know how to get it online for the wii.

Wolf Village, those are the on campus apartments right? If so, you have to register it on NCSU's network first. Find the manual network device registration for ResNet and register it.

http://www.ncsu.edu/resnet/register/

Click Manual Registration Form in red. Follow the instructions.

plus if you're trying to hookit up in the living room you're bound to have problems since those ports require the nomad authorization, I'm unaware of any workaround for this for consoles

I registered it, it says something on NCSU's page,

"Once the device is connected to the network, you will need to open a web browser. You will be automatically redirected to the authentication page, where you must log in with your Unity ID and password. This will automatically register your device"

I don't know what this means in regards to the wii.

if it's out in the living room, it won't work. the ports in the living room are nomad ONLY. the only way you can authenticate to the nomad segment is via a browser. if you can somehow get a web browser working for the wii, then you can do it. otherwise, you're sol unless you hook it up in a bedroom, or run a cable from someone's bedroom, or get a wireless router ($40 or so) and create your own wifi network

i used to work for resnet, so lemme know if you have any other questions

So, basically what that page is saying is that you need the Internet Channel so you can sign up for Resnet with that thing.

^ still I think that only opens up http ports, I don't think nomad auth covers other ports/services

jesus christ.

get the mac address off your device. use a mac spoofing program to set your computer's (or laptop's) mac address to the device address. log in to nomad. connect device. pay me $texas for this consultation. profit.

Unless they changed crap since I lived on campus, you shouldn't need to spoof a MAC just to play a damn video game online. You used to just be able to manually register things like that.
