So, after replacing the radiator and hoses, the car still loses a bit of coolant (I'd say about a quart a month). It's a dd and goes about 600 miles a month. There aren't any leaks, and the car doesn't smoke or smell of burning coolant. It runs just fine and doesn't overheat (it actually runs a little cooler since the new radiator). Could it be that the head gasket is worn out and there's a small leak?

if you are putting a chevy motor into a porsche, you should be able to figure this one out on your own

oh wait...

I heard Porsche motors sip coolant like homos drink appletinis. You should probably put in a Chevy motor.

but really...If it isn't leaking (which you need to look very thoroughly for) then it's burning it. It isn't disappearing on it's own. Pull off the radiator cap and do a leakdown test to see if you can hear it burping air out through the radiator. If it is then you need a head gasket.

no this isn't the porsche, and no its not the chevy engine. btw, I'm sure you morons have already read the other thread where I've said the swap won't get started until january...

anyways, back on topic, I was looking for other ideas or logical possibilites of what's going on with the coolant levels disappearing. Thanks for the info Skack, i'll give it a try...

the magical coolant fairy comes at night and sips it away.

it's either leaking or burning it.
