The reason why it is a prevailing theory is because cirrus clouds are generally a characteristic of approaching weather systems. They are the highest clouds and reach us first. Don't forget about the idea that hearing thunder in winter means snow within 10 days. 12/26/2007 5:00:44 AM |

Moon dogs, no. There were no signs of the characteristic refractory "rainbow" effect associated with parhelia. Refractory through ice? Yes. That is the source of the halo effect caused by high altitude cirrus clouds composed of ice which precluded the rain system we are experiencing this morning. 12/26/2007 7:45:40 AM |
