well its like this, in an emergency situation when we are trying to help and find your place.....but its not clearly labeled.....it can cost valuable time as we try to figure out the house. we are not supermen with super senses of direction. we dont have every address in the state memorized, we go by house numbers just like anyone else.....please to be helping us out by labeling your house.

My hoa painted the street address on all of the driveways a few months ago. I don't think they are really visible at night because the pizza guy has to call half the time to find my house.

I am a pizza delivery girl and I agree

the worst is apartments that have letters instead of numbers. In Cary there are apartment buildings with two sides, and letters A-Z. I have to go to apartment M. Which side is it on??? I hope nobody in those places ever has an emergency.

Google maps that shit and click satellite.

N.C.

there are some like that in charlotte... they have 6 stairwells and no clear pattern to assigning letters to each

Google maps is nowhere near accurate enough to pinpoint the house. It's almost 1/8 mile off when I search for my own house which puts the pinpoint about 8 houses down the road. Even if it could pinpoint the exact house that just takes more time which you may or may not have when you make an emergency call.

my apartment building has two sides like that and everyone has to call to see which side to go to

(view from the front )

IJ--KL
EF-GH
AB-CD

And the building number is behind a small tree and isn't even visable from the road. I have to tell everyone to look for my parking space number.

google maps would point you to the single driveway

the numbering system for culdesacs (no, firefox spell checker, that is not saccharides) is sometimes very odd anyway

I have a laptop and GPS and dispatch giving out cross streets....but all those only get you to the general area. The problem is when there are 4 houses on one driveway and none are numbered you dont know which house is which. The only numbers are on the mailboxes up the road. it takes us valuable time to
1. ask neighbors
2. ask dispatch to dig up a picture from tax records
3. randomly knock on doors

we are trying to provide help in an emergency or in the pizza case, deliver emergency food...both are critical.

And, perhaps it is the builders job to put numbers on, but its the homeowners job to make sure their piece of shit house has the numbers on it.

Have them call you on a cell phone. You can triangulate their position with the tower bounce.

I know you can do this, I've seen it with my own eyes at the raleigh 911 dispatch center. And it's accurate to like 10 feet.

yeah i have seen that done too, usually its not needed cause you can find the place without it....it just takes longer than if it was clearly marked

Now you can move the marker if it's wrong, FYI.

yes, this is what happens when you call 911. this doesn't do you any good if you're an officer out in the field.

ummm, I got a Garmin for myself, too bad when you live way out in the country it gives you the path that takes you down a unpaved rd....and takes you an hr to get there vs 30 minutes if someone just gives you directions. Garmin are good for big cities but suck out in the country....mine also told me to straight when I could only go left or right....I like how is says "recalculating" after I miss a turn. No mater how you program them, you always get the longest distance.

Ha ha I was riding with my beu on Christmas and we got pulled cause his dumbass did a wheelie at the intersection in front of a few cops... He didn't have his ID and neither did I... But because he was polite to the cop and agreed to get his bike carried back to the house, the cop didn't give him anything, which was awesome! He could have nailed him for a shit ton of stuff... like riding without an ID, wreckless, speeding etc ...

I was actually going to pick up 2 routers from someone on TWW

dude lived in an apartment complex with a number, but he didn't tell me that there's both complex A and B... for the same number.

So I get there, and it turns out that for some reason, A and B aren't next to each other. So we make a blind guess to go to one of them (can't remember which)...

To find that there's 2 floors of 4 doors each. I wanted those routers, though, so I decided to knock on random doors to ask around . First door was some chick that didn't know what a router was.

2nd door was the dude. What luck.
