since i posted this in a pm, i figured it may help some folks since i haven't found one site with a detailed tutorial of every step. it really only takes about five minutes. let me know if you have any questions.

Quote :
"1. Download 1.1.1 for the ipod from http://tinyurl.com/yu29ym
2. Plug your Ipod into your computer.
3. Press the wake-button and home-button at the same time, until you see the apple logo appear.
4. When you see the logo, let the wake button go, but still hold the home button.
5. After a few seconds you will see the 'connect to itunes' image. Release the home-button.
6. Open Itunes and it should recognize your Ipod.
7. Click on restore and select the 1.1.1 ispw file.

http://jailbreakme.com/ is pretty much all you need from here. just go to that on your ipod touch if you've rolled back the version correctly and click "Install AppSnapp" - let it do its work.

then there is a program to "future proof" the touch. you'll open your "installer" and then download and install "oktoprep" which is in the Tweaks 1.1.1 folder. once that is done, go ahead and connect to iTunes and update the firmware back to 1.1.2.

that's it. you're done. now you can play with your ipod touch and install all you want.

good luck.
chris"

I did this for my iPhone but had to go back after it became flaky

Now that 1.1.3 is being released I'm scared to even upgrade firmware so that I don't brick my device

Quick question about the iphone...

If I sell it to someone else who has AT&T, does the iphone have to be unlocked before they can use their sim card? I"m 99% sure the iPhone locks to the sim it is activated with and was going to offer to unlock it (since its the old firmware=easy to unlock) for the buyer if it needs to be.
