Just list doctors that are good and that you have good experiences with. No bullshit. I don't care what drugs I get, I just don't want to be conscious when my head starts rocking back and forth as they "squeeze the tooth out like a watermelon seed".

you can inject drugs that'll knock you out
i was awake & i got no drugs - depends on if they pull them or if surgery is involved

fuck that, list some doctors who won't knock you out while they pull wisdom teeth! That's your body, yo. To skip an experience like that would really suck. 12/29/2007 1:29:51 PM |

My friends father runs one of the original sedation dentistry places in Raleigh.
Its expensive as bizalls. Unless you have good insurance, chances are its going to cost 2-3 times what a normal dentist would out of pocket. 12/29/2007 1:39:27 PM |

Almost all oral surgeons put you under, general dentists in some cases don't. I would definitely go to an oral surgeon, the IV knockout was awesome because you bascially wake up and the procedure is over and you're in your parents car on the way home. 12/29/2007 4:40:27 PM |

Oral surgeons will hook you up with an IV unless you don't want to be put to sleep. In that case they'll shoot you up and numb you. 12/29/2007 9:57:00 PM |

I meant to say that the Dr. Waack that I suggested is an oral surgeon. And some people have an adverse reaction to anestesia and wake up crying. I woke up really happy - I looked at Lucky1 and said "Hey good lookin'!" 12/30/2007 9:18:30 PM |

I had the gas, evidently I was awake for the procedure but I didn't remember a damn bit of it. It was like they put the mask on me, told me to breathe normally, and the next thing I knew, I was in the recovery room and my dad was telling me it was time to leave. He told me they had a hard time getting me to stop talking once the gas kicked in.
Who it was wouldn't help you since this was in Greensboro.
Also I think I would have a bit of trouble with someone named Dr. Waack. Poor name for a medical/dental professional.

Back in the day I went to a guy down in Fayetteville. I didn't feel like getting knocked out so they just novicaned my mouth up around the areas being pulled. I had two impacted if I can remember right so I think I had about 10/so shots. There was an initial couple which they waited to kick in before doing the rest so I didn't feel it.
Honestly I didn't feel anything except the tugging and hearing a popping noise when they came out. The novicane was great as it didn't wear off for a while so I didn't really feel any pain.
Only advice is to try and make sure to have your post-meds/pain-killers before you get it done so you can start popping when you leave. Else you're going to feel like shit. 12/30/2007 10:29:16 PM |

i always hear commercials on the radio when ever i'm at the dentist (ironic) for a sedation dentist... i think they have the radio set at 101.5 or something close to that (easy listening) and the commercial comes on like once or twice an hour it seems like (i've spent plenty of time at the dentist recently due to crown problems ) 2/22/2008 4:52:18 PM |

truth, he was pretty good, standard IV sedation, my experience was almost identical to the quoted one, I remember them injecting something into the IV, I started to fade and fight the sleep closing in and I went out for what I thought was about 15 seconds and when I fought back out of it I asked when they were gonna start and they said they were done.
The only problem was he was a little shitty about threading the vein with the IV, took him about 5 tries, at some point I was about to pass out but then he finally got it. I've got knife fighter genes, my veins are deep and hard to hit.2/22/2008 8:04:27 PM |
