no one should be "sold" on any recruit til they see the court. Including Hickson before this year.

by "not sold" i mean i doubt that they'll be good enough to take this program anywhere it hasn't been in the past 20 years.

[Edited on February 13, 2008 at 1:40 PM. Reason : and that is sad, but i guess i shouldn't pass that judgement either.]

They’re slightly different players – the interesting thing about them over the last couple years is every now and then you’d like one better than the other, but maybe in the last year the consensus is that David is a little better right now.

While both can step out and play on the perimeter, David is more comfortable and is stronger on the perimeter – he shoots it a little more reliably from deep, whereas Travis I think long term he’s going to be the bonafide post guy of the two. Or that’ll need to be where Travis’ focus is. David is that guy who can relocate on his jump shot, has a better resumé in bigger settings when it comes to shooting the ball from the perimeter. Travis would be the guy you project middle to in and gravitating to the post more so than David. "

people are too fixated on carolina. I know they get good recruiting classes, I don't want to know all the details in this thread.

fact is we compete with carolina for recruits, like it or not. some people here are too fixated on carolina, but i don't think that's where these posts come from in this thread. it truely is relevant.

that being said... back to nc state recruiting!

Sometimes we compete with Carolina for in-state recruits.

Usually though we compete with schools like Wake while Carolina competes with Duke on a whole different level.

when we are up head to head with carolina for a recruit, post it in this thread. Otherwise, I don't want day by day updates of carolina.

carolina's got a damn good 09 class but a class of favors, brown, wall, wood and brown would be bigtime.

Did we recruit Chris Warren, that Ole Miss frosh hard? I was looking at Scout.com's ratings this week and he was the (i think) 18th rated PG in this class and it says he took an official visit here but was never offered..

He would be awfully nice to have right now!

Was Johnny Thomas supposed to be a solid recruit? He should be back next year along with our incoming class, hopefully he will help out our nonexistant guard play. We need someone decent to backup Fells at the 2. Hopefully he's a consistent 3 shooter, thats a big hole in our team right now.

Johnny Thomas reminds me of Bennerman a little in terms of athleticism. He was brought in b/c Grant will be graduating this year and Fells the next. We need future depth at that 2/3 position.

Williams Leads Britt to Win in Playoff Opener

NC State signee C.J. Williams scored 24 points to lead Fayetteville (NC) Jack Britt past Apex (NC) Green Hope 64-38 in the opening round of the state 4A basketball playoffs.

Jack Britt, the No. 1 seed in their sectional of the 4A East bracket, improves to 24-4 on the season with the victory.

Williams, a 6-foot-5 guard, totaled 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the floor. He connected on 3-of-6 3-pointers and was 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Williams added eight boards, three assists, three blocks, and two steals to pace the Bucs.

Jack Britt entered the playoffs on a hot streak after winning the Mid Southeastern Conference Tournament Championship. The Bucs will face Raleigh (NC) Wakefield in the second round. Gametime is set for 7:00 pm, and the game will be held at Jack Britt.

lmao, Johnny Thomas will be nothing close to Gerald Henderson. Henderson is one of the smoother athletes in the ACC with a wicked mid range jumper. Nothing I have heard of Johnny Thomas' game reminds me of that. Thomas has been described as explosive around the rim.

Lorenzo Brown had a playoff game in georgia tonight and an asisstant coach and a head coach from NC State were at the game to watch him. One word that describes him from people that have watched his game: "WOW"

Williams:
This N.C. State early commitment can play the 2 or 3. He has improved his skill level this summer. Williams is an explosive, athletic leaper who can also shoot it from the perimeter. He plays good defense and is a tough, hard nosed kid.

Mays:
A tremendous athlete who is strong and explosive. He slashes his way to the basket and finishes at high percentages. He makes shots from the perimeter but is not a pure shooter. He has the ability to create his own shot while keeping his head up and utilizing his peripheral vision to make the assist. What makes Julius special is his versatility to play on or off the ball.

I would love to get Lorenzo Brown. If we landed him and Wall, we could potentially have one of the best backcourts in the nation. Does Wall look like a one and done player or will he need to add muscle and a few things to his game for him to be drafted after his first year?

Ah shit. Hopefully he'll be impressed by our facilities and realize that he could play fairly soon. He is definitely a big time prospect. Right now he's a threat to record a triple double every time he plays. Scout lists him as the #4 SG and a 5* player. Rivals though lists him as the #8 PG and a 4* player. He could play either position and help out our backcourt play a lot. His Scout page says he has "High Interest" in us along with Miami, but they haven't offered. Of course who knows how up to date those lists really are.

I sure hope he commits and starts a streak of commits for Lowe. He needs it bad. Brown committing would put the wolves at bay for now and if Wall follows suit, Lowe could breathe again knowing he'd have at least the chance to coach those guys. [/wishful thinking]

From what i've seen...it's a battle between us, Miami (Who has offered or at least Brown is aware he can commit tomorrow, make no mistake), and Florida.

We're rumored to be in great great shape.

Hopefully we can get Wall up here tomorrow. Brown says he's aware we're high on Wall's list and he'd love to play with him and get to know him. IMO, that's a pretty good indication of where we are with Wall. We like our chances with both guys for now. Don't get hopes up for Favors, but we're in it just as much as anyone else

so... i wonder what that was about.
