my gf and I are entertaining 4 of her college friends at my house before we walk out to the bars
we're going to be serving food because we want everyone to have something on their stomachs before they go out drinking

we're doing a crudite platter... maybe with hummus and spinach dip
a cheese plate and chocolate truffles too

what else should I serve?

I'm making egg nog, meatballs, zucchini bread, and guacamole. I guess I'll have some nuts, fruits, and veggies.

oh man those sausage balls are so good
I don't think I'll have a chance to make them though

I've decided on a light dinner... I'm making stuffed shells with a tomato sauce that I made last night (oven roasted whole tomatoes with a mire poix in a red wine reduction)

i just recently started using wine with my tomato sauces from a suggestion by my mom

this suggestion came from the fact that i recently started drinking wine, and she figured since i was drinking it now, maybe i'd like to cook with it- I've used it with other things, just never with my italian

didn't you use one roll of sausage that was plain and the other that was hot.
i remember them being hot enough but whatever floats your boat. It'll just make me drink faster! hah

okay so this is the finalized menu:

Mushroom caps stuffed with sundried tomato spread and feta
a cheese tray with olives and bread
crudite platter with ranch

bowtie pasta tossed in pesto with red onion and sun dried tomato
spinach stuffed baked shells with a red sauce

walnut and dark chocolate brownies

the house shot is a lemon drop and we've got a bottle of limoncello as well
we've also got local beer and a 12pk of Mendocino
