I need one axle rebuilt on my 93 infiniti G20. Both inner and outer boots are busted. I just want somebody to put new boots on them. I have the axle out and I have removed the old boots already. I think autozone sells boot kits. They dont have split boots kits for my car though.
And buying a refurbed one is next to impossible, since nissan\infiniti changed axles like 4 times for that car.

hey-- this is the same thing my POS needs I've been told by multiple sources that it's far easier more cost effective to just replace the whole damn thing... however I'm not sure how your car parallels to mine. For sure one of these garage rats would know. 12/30/2007 10:49:55 PM |

first of all, go to a real parts store, and get a reman axle, its not worth the time and effort to rebuild it, and the reman one will have a warranty 12/30/2007 10:52:18 PM |

^What he said.
You obviously haven't done enough homework. I've replaced dozens of boots, but I will not touch one now. Too much of a pain in the ass, too much chance of fucking something up, and no warranty. Get you a reman axle. I don't give a good goddamn how many times they've changed axles in the course of a year (you obviously haven't had the dubious pleasure of working with mid-'80s Chryslers, when they used about three or four different axles concurrently through a model year's run, and you can pretty much toss a coin to guess which).
As long as the overall length, shaft diameter, and spline count match, you're in like Flynn. I don't know where you're getting your information, but you should always take what you read with a grain of salt. Get busy and get on the fucking telephone. Call NAPA and Carquest too...they are at least real parts stores and not a goddamn grocery store like Advance or BonerZone.
^^You got the right idea. Swap the whole axle. Faster, and comes with a warranty. Often lifetime (if you don't do like me and lose the fucking receipt!)... 12/30/2007 11:23:39 PM |

i swapped out the axles on the celica like 4 times before i got a re manufactured one that was good from autozone. other than the extra labor it was under warranty. just got annoying after a while. 12/30/2007 11:30:29 PM |

I went ahead and rebuilt it, just to learn how to do it. ABS, LSD, MT, AT, year built, all factor in G20 axles 1/2/2008 11:29:41 AM |
