I do find it hilarious how Pack Pride will say X recruit was a top priority for the staff. I imagine they will say the same if that 2025 3* QB recruit from SC commits to us in the coming weeks of even though we made the top 4? for 5*QB Faizon Brandon.

ATH Gerritt Kemp flipped from Duke to State, and he specifically said he was 100000% committed (that's one hundred-thousand percent. Five zeros.).. supposedly offers from Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, etc.

Cedric Bailey is a true frosh. I think he was 3/4 star.

Will Wilson is coming in next year as a 3 star.

So short answer is no. We only have 3 total scholarship qbs on the roster. McCall, Bailey and Thomas. Bailey is a true freshman 3 star qb. He had some decent offers but nothing amazing. A couple schools that offered signed higher rated prospects (Indiana, TAMU) and Pitt got a 4 star freshman transfer from alabama. Lex Thomas is a redshirt freshman 3 star qb who had no other D1 scholarship offers. He's also one of the smallest players on the team. Gopack lists him at 5'11 196 lb but that is laughable when you actually see him. They must be measuring to the top of his perm and weighing him with all his equipment on. But yeah he's noticeably shorter/smaller than his brothers. He apparently is good friends with all these really good WRs who signed/transferred here including Concepcion/Rogers/Grimes so that's probably the biggest impact he will have here.

We're not getting highly rated recruits at QB nor are we playing the numbers game and stockpiling mid-tier recruits hoping one hits. Doeren has relied on transfers at QB his entire tenure as head coach. I believe the only HS recruits to open the season as #1 QB for Doeren were Matt McKay and Devin Leary. So i don't really expect anything from QBs currently on the roster. We're 100% going to be in the transfer market again this winter.

I bet that Bailey starts either next year or the year after (if he sticks around)...he actually looked good in the spring game, considering he was just playing HS ball a few months prior. Miami was on him hard late trying to get him to flip his commitment before he signed with us. That would give us a few steady years of QB before we hand over the reins to Gunner Rivers

One of the recruiting knocks against Jesus Bailey was that his WRs were so good they were bailing him out on bad throws, allowing him to pad up his Monstars passing stats. His WRs were the #1 overall in the '24 class and another top-75 guy (tOSU/Miami).

Smith is currently tOSU's leading receiver so there may be some truth to this, but Bailey still walks on water IMO.

I agree. No nationally ranked guys, no 4 stars. Although this is not out of line with a typical NC State recruiting class. Will probably be in the 35-40 ranked class, which coincides with both results on the field and program budget.
