well to start we all know Billick got fired, and Parcells fired the Dolphins GM, while Smith at the chargers got an extension deal.

but the most questionable move or possibility...the Browns trading Derek Anderson possibly.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3176068&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines

i dont think its a good move, Quinn hasnt proven anything and between Joe Thomas, Anderson, Lewis, and Winslow, thats one heck of an offense if they can get a few more weapons.

questionable.

smart quote tho

I don't think that's a great idea.

I mean sure, behind closed doors you can see what teams are offering, and if someone offers something you can't refuse then take it, but I wouldn't publicly come out and say he's on the trading block.

Why not keep the QB who has done proved himself and trade the prospect?

That is horrible if they do actually trade Anderson.

It's the same situation that SD had in '06. The veteran always seems to go elsewhere.

Name Base Sal Signing Bns Other Bns Total Salary Cap Value

Anderson, Derek $ 435,000 $ 49,500 $ 5,280 $ 440,280 $ 440,280 QB
Quinn, Brady $ 285,000 $ 0 $ 3,462,000 $ 1,147,000 $ 1,147,000 QB

Except Brees had just gotten injured and he was demanding top dollar.

Basically both Brees and Rivers were each making more money than either of these two put together, SD couldn't afford to keep both. I think the Browns can.

probably should give braylon edwards some props - he's their biggest weapon by far

dangit, i actually thought i put him in there

my bad, he was for sure meant to be in there, thats one kid you cant overlook

I think you get the Browns some more run support in OL such as Thomas and you have one potent offense...they REALLY need to work on defense tho if they want to contend.

Word is now that Chad Pennington may be traded/moved.

I think it's also a given that Cam Cameron will be fired, just a matter of time. Parcells is going to clean house in a major way down in Miami.

I hope the salary structure of the NFL is changed soon for rookies. Teams are almost forced to trade/let go of their better players and play the young unproven top draft pick because of the financial investment. It happens all the time, Cedric Benson is a great example(and one that really hurt the bears). It is also the reason why Quinn will be the QB of the browns w/in the next two years when Anderson might be the better player.

SD, Cinci w/ Kitna, etc. I think it is something that is really hurting the league and the quality of play especially at the QB position forcing these guys to play before they are ready.

The rookie salary structure of the NBA is probably one of the few things that league has right over the NFL.

they didn't really trade anyone away that was much better so they could play him. Young is aweful, but we are refering to situations where players have proven themselves yet teams are almost forced to trade them for an overpaid younger unproven guy. I'm very much hoping to see Collins on the field this weekend.

Norm Chow fired:

yeah, I'm sure Norm was the root of the Titans' offensive problems

I don't know if Chow would be interested in taking a demotion, but it would be cool to see him reunited with Rivers as a QB coach.

I mostly agree, but there are some positions on NFL teams that are more important than others regardless of the team

in the NBA, it's five guys playing both ways + a bench, and you could hypothetically put five small forwards on the court together

^it doesn't matter who is paid what , just the idea that a player in the league 2-3 years that has proven himself, should get more than a rookie who hasn't done a thing yet. It just sucks that coaches/teams are forced to play certain guys because of the money invested in them.

I hope Chow gets a head coaching job eventually. He deserves a shot. Maybe Hawaii for Chow? That would be a neat fit. I'm not sure why they fired him, he had nothing to work with and he didn't want vince young.

i'm pretty sure chow has been offered several head coaching jobs but has turned them all down because he doesn't want the responsibility. i also don't think he had to do any recruiting as a coordinator

^^^ a major responsibility of all college coaches is recruiting, coordinator, head coach, etc. they all do it. Hes interviewed a few times and maybe an ok job offer here and there, but I don't think anything really serious.

chargers are going to have the most cap room in the nfl for this seasons free agency, you guys think they'll take a chance on a randy moss, if for nothing else than to take a shot at the pats?

or think they'll play it safer with just picking up a lb, backup rb & some depth?

I think it's been made clear that the Pats priority is Moss and I think he'll get the Franchise Tag, so I don't think the Chargers have any chance to get him.

I could see the Chargers looking at OL(Faneca?), LB, and maybe CB(maybe even Samuel to go with Cromartie).

I think they find a back-up RB, S, and DL depth in the draft.

or Sproles??? I think Justin Fargas would be a nice pickup for them though-would ensure Sproles and Turner stay healthy I guess.

San Diego is one of the few teams in the league that definitely doesn't need running back help

I'd say SD, NYG, MIN are all pretty solid in the RB cores

^^^Turner's gonna be gone in the free agency this year and I think they want a bigger back than Sproles as the all-time backup.

SD's biggest needs are a nickel corner if Florence gets away, maybe some help on the right side of the line, a successor at DL for Williams, and safety help since McCree is a moron.

I thought about safety but there aren't any big-fish worth spending money on in the FA market.

And Turner is gone. They will offer him a lucrative deal and he'll turn it down because he's already made it very clear that he wants to be a #1 back on some team, and he won't be at #1 back for SD barring injury for at least 3-4 more years. Sproles has been solid but he's small and a good mix-in type player and returner, not a go-to back if LT were to get hurt(like this year).

I wouldn't be surprised to see them grab Samuel, they can offer him the most money and he'd be very valuable with his playoff experience. I know Jammer isn't bad but he could slide to nickel and those 3 would probably be the best CB trio in the league if Cromartie can repeat his success from this season.

would make me very happy...cadillac will never be the same so they might as well try to get turner to go along with graham

bucs have a lot of cap room...i think about 20 million under...book it

^^^The Chargers won't go after Samuel or any other overpriced CB. They have one of the best CB duos in the league with Cromartie and Jammer. Believe it or not, Jammer has turned into a very solid cornerback, and he's by far the best tackler in their secondary.

They need a right tackle, a guard to take over for Mike Goff, a 2-gap nose tackle to take over for Jamal Williams, and a safety. I doubt they sign any big names in free agency. Maybe an old safety like John Lynch who can provide leadership to the rest of the defense.

In order of importance I think the Chargers need help in the secondary, depth in the o-line, linebacker help, and another back-up RB.

They should go to free agency to get a cornerback or safety. Same with the OL. They can solve their linebacker and RB needs in the draft. You can get a solid backup running back in the later rounds. It will definitely be nice having all that cap room.
