The legality of West Virginia's creation was questionable, so it may in fact be the only not real state.

I don't know his recruiting credentials but he knows the system and obviously LOVES the program and the state. That is the type of guy I'd want to lead my schools/states football program.

one of WV's prominent boosters is pissed off at the hire...he said Stewart "is the painter, not the architect"

Stewart is not nearly big time enough to run a big time program like WVU...well he can certainly run it into the ground...sucks to be a WVU fan...better hold onto that bowl victory for a long time cause your programs headed for the shitter

Yep cause you know Bobby Huggins will do something wrong and have them on probation in a few years and then he will leave the mess for someone else to clean up.

AS LONG AS THE PROGRAM DOESN'T REACH THE LEVEL OF SHITTINESS THAT NC STATE HAS ACCOMPLISHED I WILL BE JUST FINE....I AGREE WITH THE BOOSTER ON THE HIRE....STEWART ISN'T FIT TO BE THE HEAD COACH....I THINK THEY SHOULD GET BOWDEN...HE HAS PROVED THAT HE CAN BE SUCESSFUL AT A BIG TIME PROGRAM

you just gotta ask yourself, why would rodriguez leave? if he wanted to win a national championship, he'd have a lot better chances playing a bunch of shit teams in the big least instead of going to the big 11 and being ohio state's bitch...what a fucking idiot

^ troll?

Because everyone knows the Big Televen was the worst BCS conference this year and it wasn't even really close... Rodriguez would have won a NC this year if he opened up the playbook and let Pat White throw... the guy has a cannon but RichRod decided he'd rather see him become a gimp..

Rodriguez would have a much better chance of winning a national title at WVU than he does at Michigan...all he has to do is beat Rutgers, USF, Louisville, (Pitt), etc...he was in pretty good position to eventually get to that game...now he has to get smacked by Tressel's stupid sweater vest wearing ass every year with the occasional lumps from Penn State, Wisconsin, and even Illinois or Iowa sometimes...just a dumb move

oh and how bout that 4 million dollars...is he so dumb he doesnt negotiate for michigan to pay it?

^^ ok, fair enough.. I just figured you were trolling because you tend to do that...

I honestly think RichRod never thought WVU would pretty much tell him to go fuck himself... I don't think he ever intended on leaving but when the AD let him he was shocked... plus he probably isn't all that intelligent outside of the sport...

^ eh, didn't he go interview with Michigan without really telling the (WVU) AD? I seem to recall reading something where they had asked the AD about it and he was like "What?!" If he was money grubbing he should have at least told the AD upfront that Michigan was interested.

He may have a legal basis to not owe the 4 million, considering he agreed to that contract contingent on a bunch of promises the university never fulfilled. Several bigwig WVU boosters have publicly stated the AD is in the wrong, and they were pissed he didn't follow through even though they were on board with the money. At the very least, I expect the figure to come way down when mediated out of court.

FUCK RICH....THERE IS NOT POINT IN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY HE LEFT....THEY STILL HAVE A LOT OF TALENT COMING BACK NEXT YEAR AT THE SKILL POSITIONS....THE IMPROVEMENT ON DEFENSE THIS YEAR HAS BEEN THE MOST IMPRESSIVE PART OF THIS TEAM...IF THEY CAN CONTINUE TO IMPROVE THE DEFENSE THEY WILL BE JUST FINE....

This seems like a similar hire to me like when Miami hired Coker. He knows the system, the players like him. That ultimately turned out badly for Miami, although Coker did win a national championship.

Yeah, I was hoping WVU would hire Terry Bowden. He had some real good teams at Auburn and hopefully learned from whatever mistakes got him fired.

Or you could have hired Coker. he's still available.....

Is this like when Coker won a national championship the year he was hired and then went downhill once he realized he couldn't sell air conditioning to a Floridian on the recruiting trail? Or how about when Torbush devastated that program from two top ten finishes to what Bunting then put on the field. Nahhh, this guy will easily recruit with he much younger coaches . Aren't Slaton and White gone? I'm sure that won't hurt things Enjoy your semi-modest new years day bowl next year because of the talent you have, and then a 6 worded bowl the year after, and then reality in years 3-however many this guy is there.

I believe Pat White is coming back. This is still a terrible hire, mostly because the hire was based completly on emotions and 18 year old kid's recomendations. This guy would have always been there waiting, why not take a few weeks and see who else might be out there.

reminds me more of Ted Roof... Duke fired their coach during the season, made Roof the interim head coach, he did well during the tail end of the season so they promoted him to Head Coach, and we all know how well that turned out (not that he wasn't hamstrung by several things at duke, but still)

does pat white have the durability to make a good nfl punt returner? because nobody in the nfl is man enough to find a more creative use for that guy

I'm sure someone is man enough to make him a wr...he'll go back to WVU, probably make a run at the heisman and then get drafted in the 4th round.

4th round "WRs" initially play PR and KOR, especially the fast ones with no proven hands or route-running capability. only the special ones make it into the starting lineup and stick around for a decent career.

so yeah, at least for a year or two, some dickhead is going to get to waste pat white as a returner. if he's lucky maybe he'll go somewhere (pittsburgh) where he gets to run fake reverse once in a blue moon. if he's really lucky he won't be shattered into a thousand pieces returning kicks before he gets a chance to learn the WR position

Yeah cause that is the guy you want catching punts and kicks. If he commits to being a good WR he'll be fine.

USUALLY QB'S THAT GET CONVERTED TO WR IN THE NFL RUN EXCELLENT ROUTES BECAUSE THEY UNDERSTAND HOW IMPORTANT ROUTE RUNNING IS IN TIMING PATTERNS....THAT GUY FROM JACKSONVILLE (MATT JONES) IS AN EXCEPTION....HE SUCKS....LOOK AT HINES WARD...HE WAS A QB CONVERT AND IS ONE OF THE MOST SURE-HANDED WIDEOUTS IN THE NFL.....RANDLE EL HAS PROVEN TO BE A GOOD NFL WIDEOUT..AS LONG AS WHITE CAN REMAIN HEALTHY HE CAN HAVE A GOOD NFL CAREER....I PERSONALLY HOPE HE STAYS AT WVU NEXT YEAR HOWEVER IF IT WAS ME I WOULD MAKE THE JUMP TO AVOID ANY MAJOR INJURIES THAT COULD HURT HIS DRAFT STATUS...

Josh Cribbs anyone? Dude was a MAC QB that is now the best Kick returner in the game along with Hester.

Pat White will be an NFL player, just not a QB and not next year. He'll be back. Slaton on the other hand might leave. If you need to ask why, I guess you haven't seen Noel Devine run yet.
