It's tough. talking to people you realise how much better your place is than theirs compared to the rest of the country. There's a reason why North Carolina has more net people coming in than any other state in the union. it's an arrogance, but well deserved. I can't explain it. I'm surmising another date. don't be offended.

You are a better person than most, simply because you happen to have been born in a state currently experiencing population growth. Congratulations!

big time

I had the distinct displeasure of driving from highway 26 on a bunch of SC highways to Chester, SC recently

and then back to civilization (I-85) to get to ATL

North Carolina is not going to be nice much longer. The population influx is going to turn it into a place just like the newcomers are trying to get away from.

AGREED SOUTH CAROLINA is a total SHITHOLE. they should fire bomb the whole state. went to florence, sc to buy some furniture one time and also was in basic training there. SHITTIEST STATE IN THE CONFEDERACY. hands down.

Raleigh's future is shown in Capital Blvd. That place should be razed.

One thing I can say for South Carolina is that most counties have a county seat by the same name. Use that map to compare NC and SC. When I tell people I am from Stanly County, NC, their first thought is always Stanley, NC near Lincolnton.

Its true...Millbrook is slowly becoming a shithole east to west...so is spring forest east to west...atlantic has gone to the dogs...falls of neuse is almost there anywhere south of the Freshmarket. My parents house isn't that far away from the westward migration of the new mix of Raleigh denizen. Even glenwood around pleasant valley sucks now (when did that place get bad?).

that is something that has always kinda annoyed me. I am from Washington county and when I tell peolpe that they say, "Oh, little Washington." then I say no, Little Washington is actually in Beaufort County, but NC also has a town named Beaufort in the southeastern part of the state. And then there is Greene county but Greenville is in Pitt county.

sometimes i wish i lived in a state where if you ask someone where they're from they give you the name of a city instead of a county.

If Raleigh had the Smithsonian, the USDA, the Orioles, and a subway system, it would be the shit.

you raise a valid point. and a lot of people probably still dont live in a city. my parents house is technically in the county i guess, but i still say raleigh instead of wake county. but who says wake county anyway, that is just dumb. its always counties i haven't heard of/even if i have i know not what direction they're in. but if you say like "sylva" i'm like ok western NC. or if you say "albemarle" i'm like now we're goin east.

went to good old south carolina first for college (cofc) then i cammmme back. i almost didn't almost went up to ohio but my parents didn't trust me being out of state again.

oh also it was cheap. and i've left raleigh plenty of times. i can't help it if i'm not from rando, NC. a lot of raleigh people end up at state. GUESS we could have gone to chapel thrill but, i look good in red so.

I'm a Yankee transplant. Yes, I moved to Cary. Sigh.

I appreciate Sweet Tea and Southern Belle accents though. Thank you, NC!

4^Plenty of people who grew up in NC don't have discernable accents, and no, you don't want to move up north. There is a very good reason why people from the north move down here.

hahaha i wouldn't move because of the accent. i would move because i'm tired of here. when i grad i will have spent 25 years residing in the same state. would like a change. and yes, a lot of people from the north move here for the weather. i, on the other hand, enjoy big cities and the cold
