It's tough. talking to people you realise how much better your place is than theirs compared to the rest of the country. There's a reason why Texas has more Fortune 500 companies and research facilities than any other state in the union. it's an arrogance, but well deserved. I can't explain it. I'm surmising another date. don't be offended.

^^No. Texas was independent from Mexico before it became a State, just in case there was any doubt.

^Hell yea. Where else can you do 75 mph legally off the interstate?

^ you know they dropped it to 55 a few years back and the cops stopped giving tickets... thats why its 75 now

But i do like their mentality and i like the ability to protect property with deadly force.

Yea, I love how big everything is there. Like buying plots of 2560 acres (4 square miles) of land being normal in rural areas, the fact that State Capitol building is second in size to the US Capitol (and taller overall). We've got some of the biggest cities too - Dallas, Houston, San Antonio.

chembo is hispanic, thus it is home for him. Most of the state speaks spanish as the primary language.

three months in the summer it is hotter than hell, everything is flat, they call the shrubs trees, everything is brown and looks dead...the "lakes" have brown water also.

Texas is full of cheap labor

Sand and dunes? If you're talking about the Big Bend and El Paso, then yes.

The Panhandle is pretty dry too.

South Texas is not, though.

This is the countryside near where I live, in the Hill Country.

And East Texas is more Louisiana and Arkansas than the rest of Texas.
