Quote : | "It had been 13 years since the Chargers last won at playoff game. That streak ended Sunday – thanks in large part to Rivers' performance in the rain. The Titans were able to shut down LaDainian Tomlinson for most of the day, and Antonio Gates missed much of the game with an injury. But Rivers rallied the Chargers after they were shut out in the first half, throwing for 292 yards and a touchdown en route to San Diego's 17-6 victory. And with Gates missing, Rivers tossed for more than 100 yards each to receivers Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson – the latter catching Rivers' TD pass late in the third quarter to give the Chargers their first lead." |
yeah its no Tom Brady performance, but thats a pretty good second half in shitty weather when the other two big stars on your team are MIA

I'll vote for him.
But I thought that the several 30+ yard passes he threw to wide open receivers he didn't lead them very well. Maybe he was just making sure the pass was complete but one they kept replaying (I think it was to Chambers) if he had led him enough he would have scored easily. But he had to wait for the ball and got tackled. 1/7/2008 11:33:48 AM |

Clearly you know dick about the NFL or Titans this season. Tennessee had a top five defense except for the three games in which Haynesworth was out with an injury (in which the Titans went 0-3). The fact that Rivers threw for 290 in a game in which LT couldn't get going makes his performance that much more impressive.

it was a good performance but for fuck sake I could have thrown some of those passes as wide open as those receivers were all game. 1/7/2008 6:06:13 PM |

^i disagree. If the run is effective, then the defense has to respect it. They shut down LT, so they didn't have to respect the run, which should've made passing more difficult. The wide ass-open-I'm-standing-still Chris Chambers was blown coverage, not them stacking the box. He was past a CB, LB, and a Safety. 1/8/2008 9:12:59 AM |

^ What he said
Also the fact that the Charger OL was getting straight dominated by the Titans made it easy for the Titans to drop 7 into coverage and still get pressure on Phil. I thought Rivers played well especially with the pressure Tennessee was bringing. 1/8/2008 10:43:32 AM |
