I have a question concerning foreign stocks in particular China. Since they are historically a communist countries with still today much gov't control over the economy what is the risk in investing in Chinese companies???

Can the gov't just come in and nullify outstanding shares of stock with one of their corporations?? I remember something similar happening in Cuba initially when Castro took over and stockholders lost $texas in Cuban investments. So what basically stops the Chinese gov't from being like thanks for investing, we have your money now, sorry Americans...
