I think it's around the same section as stoning gay people and anyone who has sex with a girl on her period.

google search gave me this:

1 Corinthians 6:18

Run away from sexual sin! No other sin so clealy affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.

Mark 7:20-23

[Jesus] went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.'"

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God.

1 Corinthians 7:2

But because of cases of sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.

I've thought about this a lot, being a southern baptist . One thing people haven't mentioned is the fact that back in biblical times having sex pretty much was the marriage. So, the first partner you had sex with could be considered your wife/husband in God's eyes. If you go off and have sex with someone else, then you're committing adultery.

it's just another of those stupid pseudosins, like drinking and smoking pot, which Churches emphasize at the expense of loving thy neighbor

I guess it's how you interpret it

if you think sexual immorality = premarital sex, then those verses can be applied. but if not, then keep on fuckin

my question on this has always been, who married adam and eve, if they were the first humans? What about their incestuous kids?

^^^^ not really, there were bride-prices to be paid to the father of the woman who was slept with & if the man didnt want to marry her, he still had to pay the bride-price to the father

see that's precisely my point, i don't think sexual immorality directly implies premarital sex...i mean it seems like the church decided premartial sex was immoral, and kind of used circular logic to redefine sexual immorality. but to each his own i guess. i guess this isn't novel.

Yeah the old testament does have a lot of things that are nearly impossible to reconcile with the new testament, science, or modern morality.

references to an actual hell in the Bible are very few and far between, so I doubt you'd actually find that part anywhere

^^ please point me to that passage, kthx

And don't pull out Revelations as the impending "hell on Earth" for sinners: a physical hell as a damning place for sinners doesn't really concretely exist in the Bible. There's considerable debate about how to interpret some passages that may allude to one, but there's no Dantesque hell described anywhere.

it's kinda pointless, because according to the denomination that most strongly discourages premarital sex (Southern Baptist) individual sins don't matter...you're born sinful...going to heaven/hell is just a matter of believing in Christ

this is why i avoid Christianity its impossible to avoid contradictions and you aren't even allowed to make your own mind about which contradiction seems right.

Jude 1:7

Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

How many Christians between 20-30 actually follow God's law and didn't have sex before they were married?

^^^Heard that from a Christian
^^True

Here we discover the hypocrisy in those who consider themselves Christians but don't feel like following the rules, and those who are accused their entire lives for being sticklers.

They lose either way.

Christians being under persecution and all.

fornicate = have sex without being married

it doesn't matter if you are divorced AFTER marriage. if you aren't married you have 'fornicated'

"accused their entire lives for being sticklers."

At least the sticklers apply their principles to their lives consistantly. That's respectable.

you can fornicate while you are married too. but the more precise term then becomes adultery.

adultery is typically worse than fornication b/c not only are you fornicating but you are betraying a spouse and possibly children.

So go ahead and tell me you guys have respect for virgins.

Because I've seen one particular user on here insulted for sticking to his guns about remaining a virgin until marriage.
