Quote : | "The CTS-V is powered by GM's 6.2 liter supercharged V8 (LSA) which will also be propelling the ZR1 Blue Devil Corvette in LS9 guise. The LSA engine produces 550 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque, while the LS9 puts 650 hp to the road. Power is transferred through either a manual six-speed transmission or, for the first time on the CTS-V, an automatic paddle-shift Hydramatic six-speed transmission.
But where the Corvette is famous for its straight-line acceleration, the CTS-V is claimed to perform as well (if not better) going through twists and turns than its European counterparts thanks to its Electro-Magnetic suspension. Two options can be altered between, Sport and Tour, while Brembo brakes (front: six piston; rear: four piston) will put the vehicle to a halt again.
The CTS-V also comes with a fancy new traction control system, based on the system found in the CTS-V race car, ensuring maximum traction without loosing too much power like most traction control systems." |

The new CTS is much better looking than the old model, plus they redid the bizarre-ass interior with an attractive design. Add the LSA...nice. 1/9/2008 10:11:20 AM |

No freaking way. besides the Cadillac weighing about 600lbs more than the ZR1, the ZR1 also has the electro-magnetic suspension.
Improvement over the last model though for sure! As long as they get rid of that wheel hop.1/9/2008 1:38:08 PM |

The sentence was worded very badly. I think they were comparing the handling only to the Euro competition. I don't know why they stuck the statement about the corvette in there.
Car is fucking pimp. I did like the old V's slightly more understated front end better (mainly the front lip & the large amount of mesh at the bottom on the new one). I'd still pimp it.

Would you guys rather have this or an M5? I suppose that may not be a direct comparison. Let's say price isn't a factor, just a direct comparison of the cars. 1/10/2008 10:09:53 PM |

M5 is badass but there's just some kind of Darth Vadar thing going on with the CTS-V.
Have the 6 spd. M5's been released yet? If not, definitely the CTS (I prefer rowing even if I'm slower than the computer controlling the sequential). If so then I'm honestly up in the air since I actually prefer the CTS' looks over the BMW.
Damn, I can't believe I just said that a fucking Caddy looks better than a Bimmer... 1/10/2008 11:14:22 PM |

SandSanta All American 22435 Posts user info edit post |
The M5 is a schizo car. It can't quite decide if its a balls out race-saloon or a toned down gentlemen's car. I'm sure in M mode, its the sport saloon, but I think if I wanted to portray the image of a Darth Vader decimating a weekend track event and then taking the kids to school on monday, I'd do it in the caddy.
This is the best American car design to come out of Detroit since the end of the muscle car era. 1/11/2008 12:23:36 AM |

uh, no it's not. not even close. the cts is going to be hot on the heels of an m5 all around, if not exceed it in some areas. even in your magazine world of 0-60, skidpads, and braking distance. it's definitely got a decided power advantage if nothing else.
real world day to day use might easily be in the cts's favor when you consider the s2000'ish powerband of the bmw and the ridiculous combinations of idrive settings.
i'll be interested to see some direct comparisons vs. the advertised numbers. the only things i can really see the m5 having the advantage with would be ride, fit/finish, and overall refinement. which are important things with such cars.1/11/2008 2:30:52 AM |

dude you're a moron
A. i have no magazine subscriptions
B. I'm saying statistically they'll be similar
btw an sti out performs a carrera 4 on paper in a lot of things.
But the x factor it will lose on in a big way...
with the caddy vs bimmer the caddy won't have the style, the feel, the clunk, the seats that grab you (no really they actually grab you) or the sound of a high rpm v10.
More than likely it will have some other gm car's steering wheel with poor ergonomics and large easy to push buttons so the old people will still love them. 1/11/2008 8:44:26 AM |

While I like that the back calls to mind the Cien concept, It looks like a hatchback with the high tail and long, sloping rear window. I prefer my coupes to look more coupe-like; as others have said, trim that tail a little.
I personally would still rather have the sedan in this case though. Most of the time, 4-door utility outweighs 2-door sexiness. (Exceptions exist, such as the G35 coupe/G37 vs. the 4-door G35.) 1/16/2008 3:58:18 PM |
