Do you know someone who had a really fun that same semester partying instead of studying and barely made C's or D's?

i work in lawn care during the summer with a bunch of mexicans and all i can say is i wish more americans were willing to work as hard as they do instead of sitting around collecting a piece of the working man's earnings. i do also wish that the illegals payed taxes like the rest of us, but as soon as that happens they'll probably start getting a piece of my paycheck too.

if this is referring to illegal immigrants, you could use the same example to go the opposite way. yes, they benefit from being here, but a lot of the benefits derived are not THAT great. and they work just as hard or harder than other CITIZENS for a lot less money and for shittay living conditions (but a lot greater than where they came from).

my only point is that a fix to immigration is probably not deporting everyone.

Do you really want to raise the cost of construction by 5% or so to double the lowest paid person's salary? That is what it would take for American-born people to do the jobs required to build a single building.

Would you for $8.50 an hour work outside when it is 35F with the wind howling while you are trying to install a sewer pipe 20 feet in the ground?

How about tying rebar? Or placing concrete?

Or paving a road when it is 110F in the shade and the asphalt is coming off the truck at 450F?

People of our generation WILL NOT work for that. Sorry, but the illegal immigrants are a necessary evil. No matter the precautions or the amount of money our government spends, people will ALWAYS figure out how to beat the system to fill the need.
