I am looking to buy a Dave Matthews live DVD (and possibly CD) but am undecided about which one I would like to get. I have been able to listen to live at red rocks, and live at folsom and enjoy both but have not been able to get much info on other live DVDs/Cds. Also, anyone know how the new live at piedmont park DVD is?
Thank you for info and hope you enjoy the topic. 1/10/2008 4:40:15 PM |

From previous tendencies, prepare for a hatestorm of "OMFG DAVE SUX U FAG GTFO"
That having been said, my two favorites are probably still Live at Red Rocks and Listener Supported, both of which are pretty old. Haven't heard as much of the new stuff (such as the Piedmont Park DVD), so I can't help you there. 1/10/2008 4:46:00 PM |

i really like both the Dave and Tim Reynolds cd's. The new one is great, but not as good as the first one. 1/10/2008 4:48:43 PM |

The Gorge DVD/CD package is by far the best if you're looking for a dvd and live cd. The new Piedmont Park DVD basically sucks. 1/10/2008 5:26:25 PM |

im not gonna list folsom, red rocks, LS, or dave and tim cause those are very popular..
the gorge cd/dvd is awesome.
dmb Live Trax vol. 6 at Fenway Park is another good one. Its new.
I have several other LiveTrax albums....
Live Trax Vol 2 San Francisco, CA
and i think its Vol 1. are both stellar. 1/10/2008 5:35:34 PM |

don't have any of the newer ones
but listener supported is great even with the annoying black backup singers in the last couple of songs 1/10/2008 6:43:22 PM |

^ no, Stand Up came out a few summers ago
although I won't come out and say its horrible (because it's better than alot of stuff nowadays)... when compared to the older, typical Dave, it's bad 1/10/2008 8:00:08 PM |

retail is between listener supported or the central park concert.
folsom field and chicago are both classic though. 1/10/2008 8:16:10 PM |

Central Park is good to watch, but I didn't really like the 5.1 audio mix too much. Vocals a bit too distant and flat sounding. 1/10/2008 8:47:10 PM |

the best DMB song is one where he doesn't sing or play music 1/10/2008 8:52:44 PM |

I've got somewhere between 120 and 140 live shows (all 1999 or earlier) in mp3 format on about 20 or so CD's. If the discs haven't corroded then I can probably get you any of those you would want. I'm sure i have a list somewhere. These are great for general listening so don't expect some hifi shit. 1/12/2008 3:14:19 AM |

Live @ Chicago is a really different sound because it's an indoor venue. Also, it's the only album I know of with a live version of "The Maker", which is a phenomenal track. Also, my wife has the latest Tim & Dave, and I'm stuck on the Cornbread song. 1/12/2008 6:27:12 AM |

I have heard an acoustic version of "The Maker" on some sort of trader-made 3 album acoustic collection. That song is fucking awesome, esp when it's dave and tim. 1/12/2008 10:49:05 PM |

Yep. Like I said, I have about 140 live recordings and all are 1999 or earlier (except for one show from 2000 that was at Walnut Creek). I was still going to shows for a few years after that but the music was definitely on its way down... Dave was better when he was depressed and on drugs/alcohol. Between the Lillywhite Sessions and Everyday was basically when everything went to the shitter.
I could care less if people think they suck... the price of admission was worth it simply to hear Carter Beauford on the drums.1/13/2008 3:33:01 AM |
