body aches - check fever - check sniffles - check nonproductive coughing with pain - check sinuses pressure - check
first time being actually sick to the point where i could legitamitely take a sick day in like 2 years
it took it forever to actually come on too.
maybe when you have a strong immune system to begin with, then the drugs dont work.
only thing actually helping is DXM and motrin, and i think thats just the DXM is making me sleepy. but none of the "take at the first sign" stuff worked

airborne and zicam are scams.
people will still pay $10 a box though, so more power to them. 1/12/2008 3:37:13 AM |

dude, it's just zinc gluconate, you can get that shit anywhere for less than $3. no need to pay $10.
[Edited on January 12, 2008 at 3:52 AM. Reason : if zicam acutally worked, why not have it fda approved? why is it homeopathic?] 1/12/2008 3:51:29 AM |

i had body aches, sore throat and other "oh shit i'm getting sick" symptoms and i tried zycam. i did it every 4 hours for 2 days as it recommended and it cleared me up. within 24 hours i was feeling better & avoided getting sick for the usual amount of time.
was it the zycam? a coincidence? i don't know. i'm just happy i'm not sick because i'm too busy to be lying around all day. 1/12/2008 11:23:54 AM |

airborne doesn't work, but in my experience, zicam does. the decongestant nasal spray works within minutes of using it. 1/12/2008 11:29:14 AM |

hahaha. you do realize it's the decongestant working and not the zinc right? that doesn't mean that zicam works.1/12/2008 12:39:57 PM |

funny, i slept in for a while and i feel much better today (so far), although i took a whole round of medicine when i woke up
seotaji knows everything, hopefully google has the answers for this quickly so he can answer, cause i'm wondering.
ps i only paid 4.99 for the airborne, but i did pay 10 for the zicam - so we will discuss that purchase.

where can i get zinc gluconate for 3 bucks? also dont forget the zinc acetate. where can i get that for 3 bucks? assuming it costs the same. or maybe assuming you dont know what youre talking about since in lots of research, the acetate is thought to work better than the ZG.
also, what am i dilluting the stuff with, is the 3 dollar stuff pre-diluted? where do you get this magical 3 dollar pre-processed zinc?1/12/2008 1:01:52 PM |

why do you hate me jackleg.
wal-mart sells zinc gluconate 40-60 pills for $3 or so. i'll look for the zinc acetate the next time i'm there.
it's interesting that you mention zinc acetate. the box of zicam that i have in front of me has zinc gluconium as it's active ingredient. this is off topic, but is there a version of zicam uses zinc acetate?
i agree and have read similar research on zinc acetate regarding it's efficacy compared to zinc gluconate. the verdict is that there is no verdict. at least in my ill-informed opinion.
you can dilute the zinc with glycerin and distilled water if you wish. 1/12/2008 1:21:39 PM |

Word from an Ear/Nose/Throat doctor is the zinc stuff only works if the pathogen is still limited to the nasal passages. Meaning, you have a very limited timespan to use it. And if you do feel better after using it, you are likely to attribute it to the treatment, even though there is no way to prove whether the treatment or your immune system by itself was responsible. This is why there is little to no conclusive evidence supporting its use. 1/14/2008 12:50:49 AM |
