so I go to pickup my package off Lake Dam Rd and there's a line including a muslim family in front of me. I wait my turn and when i get up to counter the guy waits 15 seconds till they leave the building immediately looks at me and says "is it just me or do they always stink to high heaven?"

I had a guy yesterday ask me if I was hindu (i'm of south-asian descent) and I told him no, I was raised Christian. Then he said "those hindus are more peaceful than those muslims aren't they?" and I just laughed nervously.

i hate when people refer to all middle easterners or people that look middle eastern as muslims, but i guess the people who do that are the same people who don't know how to spell racist.

I used to live there. I hated that lab. Stunk like hell. Then I had to send my laptop in for repairs, and I had to sit in that fucking lab for hours, everyday, for 2 months.

if that family wasn't muslim, they should surely stop wearing the traditional garb of muslims

it's not racist to assume (even though i could tell in this case) that ANYONE from the middle east is muslim when there's only 8% of the region that is not

if you guys can't tell who is muslim and who is not just by looking, you're all just as uneducated as me i guess

Ummm....you could MAYBE say that about Muslim women, but for the most part, unless a Muslim man is with his wife/whatever, you honestly can't tell me you could point him out in a crowd for being Muslim.

^^ Depends on how devout they were. I bet I could pick out an ultra-Orthodox Jew in a crowd. People put on certain attire for a reason, they're projecting an image about themselves, it might be, "hey guise, I'm a Muslim LOL". *shrug* so be it.

Eludicate. Do tell just what you think the 'traditional garb of muslims' is. I'm going to hazard a guess that you're attributing religious meaning/sourcing to traditional regional attire.

^^Rob, the dress of ultra conservative Jews is markedly different from normal society. For a Muslim man to be dressed in accordance with the Koran, all he has to do is be covered from the navel to the knees, and have a beard. Matt sure as hell ain't muslim, but he does this with regularity - as do many men.

No, it's not racist - only because your discrimination isn't based on race.

You can't. If you went to an MSA meeting, you would see people you'd never have guessed are Muslim.


As I go down my list of middle eastern friends, almost all are as white as I am (in terms of melanin). There's one you'd never know is Muslim if she didn't veil.


I'm not gonna say it's okay to be racist, but don't act all upset, horrified or indignant at someone else's racism when you've proven to be just as racist.
