My ac adapter works, the blue light around the plug on the computer comes on. I presume the battery is charged as it has been plugged in and working all day. It was working not 30 minutes ago when I unplugged it and carried it into the living room. It then turned off on its own and now this is happening:

When i hit the power button, a few leds light up for a second, and turn back off. I can hit the power button again and this happens over and over. I removed and replaced the battery and ram... I'm at a loss here. It does this both plugged in and not plugged in.

compaq presario f700.

thanks for any help...

remove the laptop battery and use the ac adaptor to power your laptop. If it works, your battery needs to be replaced.

i would put the laptop in the box hp is sending you, and send that box to hp tech support.

if those are the symptoms, there's not much you'll be able to do on your own to fix it.
