unbelievable. i have exhausted the workarounds on the ms help page, and have requested the hotfix (maybe it'll work).

anybody have similar problem with "can't find driver to install" for your USB flash drive with vista? every damn time the OS can't find the driver online. i plug the same flash drive into a laptop running vista, and the drive comes right up. and i've checked the memorex and adata websites -nada!

WTF?

So you're saying it doesn't work on one computer, but does work on your laptop?

Just a guess, but maybe it's the motherboard drivers? Or chipset drivers? It sounds like a problem with the usb drivers on the mobo, rather than the OS.
