This is freaking ridiculous. In case some of you don't recall this car, here it is:
A nice (little strange looking) bare bones RWD roadster. Now to save money Chrysler is going to build it on a FWD CHINESE-based platform. They really shouldn't even bother producing it.

Is it still going to look like that? If so that makes no sense. Dodge builds aggressive-looking cars; seems they want to cater to a male buyer. A guy is not going to buy an FWD convertible on some cheap chinese platform, IMO. That is the formula for a cute, girl-car type convertible...
Sigh. 1/15/2008 5:19:27 PM |

what does it matter if it's a "cheap chinese platform"? 1/15/2008 5:29:21 PM |

Because chinese cars are shit.
But then again so is Dodge.
Can't wait for them to go out of business. 1/15/2008 5:30:21 PM |

If they thought they were going to make a lot of money off a roadster platform to begin with you have to question their judgement. 1/15/2008 6:05:04 PM |

I hope they lose eye-watering amounts of money on that piece of shit. Hopefully it'll cause heads to roll from the top on down to everyone who had anything to do with that gayass decision.

...although maybe they'll come back in Round 2 and build a small sports car, although it seems kinda odd for the same company to build a little FWD fagwagon and a small sports car (it would be like if Honda had decided to build both the Del Sol and the Miata/MR2).
Maybe such a sports car will be a success, while the "Demon" (haha) will get utterly and publicly humiliated by the new Miata and Solstice/Sky, driving home the point to the auto industry (particularly the retards in Detroit).

damn, that sucks. And I actually like the body style too. If they made it RWD, not make it a boat and have a decent performing engine with decent reliability, they'd have a winner on their hands. Why can't these damn car companies do some real world market research?
At least have the 'real' sports coupe version available (although limited production), then fwd versions for the masses. 1/15/2008 8:15:20 PM |

all they need to make this car a success is RWD, a curb weight of around 2700-2800lbs and the turbocharged engine from the Caliber SRT4 (in and of itself a disgrace of a performance vehicle).
Sadly they can't see that 1/15/2008 10:50:56 PM |

yeah, i see all 3 of those in it...along with a Dakota.
The idea that this thing is going to compete with the Miata or Solstice is comical.
And putting it up against a slightly used S2000 (or even 350Z) would be a bloodbath. 1/16/2008 1:52:07 AM |

a fwd built off of an existing chinese platform will NOT look like that. The new owners are screwing things up. Name this the Hornet. You know, the show/concept car you had that was small and fwd. There wouldn't be as much of an uproar if you announced that. 1/16/2008 12:00:51 PM |
