totally agree

I thought about making this thread a while ago stating that we're essentially the same team (minus Atsur)...just that last season we were projected to finish last and this season we were projected to finish 3rd

but tonight I felt like making an "I told you so" thread

Exactly. Heart is the difference between this year's team and last year's team. It's not like we had Atsur the whole season last year anyway, he missed half of it.

To me this whole lame ass "heart" thing is just such an overused cliche in sports.

The team is poorly coached, has no on the court chemistry, and lacks leadership. Heart to me comes in question when the game is getting out of hand and a team gives up. Or a team is 0-13, has nothing to play for, and gives up. Right now, to say they have "no heart" doesn't mean anything to me. All the heart in the world doesn't make up for shitty shooting and poor offensive execution. Don't confuse lack of heart with frustration as a result of shitty results and lack of trust in the coaching. I think there are a lot of coaches in the country that would be able to take this team and have them playing signficantly better, Lowe is just holding the reigns too tight on offense.

last year's team gave 110% no matter what, no matter who they played, knowing they were the underdogs going in. To me, that's heart.

this year's team complains about playing time and losing it to freshman better than them. they could just give a rat's ass overall and can't seem to be a team. it has no heart.

not buying it. and there were times early last year that it looked bad too. sorry, not giving heart is to easy of a copout for me, it lets the coaches off the hook for the product they are putting on the court. i just see a lot of frustrated and confused players on the court, i believe they are trying and working hard, they are just working hard doing the wrong things.

I don't know how we lost to Miami last year. I remember watching it and thinking the team was just tired of playing or something. In that game they looked like we look in every game now.

if you believe this team is "working hard" you are the most naive person on the planet or you haven't actually watched a game. it is beyond a lack of effort.

I disagree, and one thing I'll point to is that we haven't been terrible on the defensive end of the court. Defense is largely about effort, and we've been holding teams and playing respectable defense. If it was a complete lack of effort we'd also be giving up 100 points a game on the other end of the court and that hasn't happened.

I don't buy that a team last year that "played with heart" which has almost all the same players this year has all the sudden decided to not try. I had a coach once after a bad loss that would always question our heart. I hated when he did that, because I knew the team had gone all out, we were just out coached usually.

Again, I just see a confused/frustrated team, which people generally lable as lack of heart.

The reason we're "holding" these teams isn't because of our defensive pressure (or lack thereof), but mostly just because they're a)bad teams or b) shots aren't falling.

I'll be the first to tell you Sid needs to drop the isolation offense and try something new. But to place this all at his feet, you've got to be insane.
