interesting read. I'm on the side of the land owners. The government cannot force you to put up a fence on your property. And I especially don't like Michael Chertoff, the Secretary of Homeland Security, arrogance in this matter. 1/17/2008 4:21:45 PM |

If the landowner doesnt want the fence on his land just put his land on the otherside of the fence. Solves the problem. So then he wouldnt have a fence in his backyard, just the front. 1/17/2008 4:40:16 PM |

If the government is willing to pay for any land they're going to use, I don't see a problem. If they just expect to take the land though and build shit on it, and for the landowners to simply comply (just because) they can get fucked.
If they didn't act like arrogant dickbags when it came to property rights people might be more willing to reason with them, but now they might have a fight in court and breed a lot of resentment in a lot of land-owning tax-paying citizens. This will probably only end badly. 1/17/2008 5:15:40 PM |

The border fence is a good idea. The border fence will not eliminate illegal immigration, but it should slow it. Just like locking your car door to slow or deter thieves from taking it.
Besides, don't these border residents want to keep illegal immigrants out? Or at the least, keep strangers from another country off your lawn? Or am I the only one that see's it that way? I don't see why these people are so opposed to a fence. It's probably a combination of anti-government mentality and pro-illegal sentiment. 1/17/2008 6:31:15 PM |

Well, if they don't like the look of the fence, maybe they can provide prettier options. Like one of these,
Or one of these,
Just add a few razors to the top and it should provide form and function. Come on. Our government sucks at new ideas. They can't ever think up good ideas. I thought of this idea just after a few minutes on the toilet. 1/17/2008 7:06:24 PM |

bullshit
700 miles of fence on a 2200 mile stretch is not going to do shit
this fence isn't like locking your card door its like rolling the window up 1/3 of the way and leaving it unlocked1/18/2008 2:10:46 PM |

Penn and Teller built an example of the wall that will be erected with illegal labor they then asked these same laborers to, in teams of two, climb over, go under or go through the wall
all told it took EACH group about an extra 2 minutes 1/18/2008 2:37:21 PM |
