as a sports fan I'm not sure why I live vicariously through my favorite sports teams, with their losses comes despair, with their wins [especially as underdogs] comes jubilation. It's like I've achieved my goal through them, however there was no effort. That's the only true satisfaction, when a person must exert effort to obtain his goals. But how long does that last?

yeah after initially posting I realized it wasn't the best way to get a true discussion going.

achieving goals through personal sacrafice (effort) = happiness = success = ?

as for the percentage of goals to be met I think it varies from person to person, however I think if it is less than half than that is one of many things that could cause psychological problems to develop.
