First I have to tell you I am not the world's biggest fan of snow. I am totally happy to have my friends in Canada, Ohio, etc. tell me how that are dealing with the latest round of 6 - 12 inches of snow while I enjoy good ol snowless North Carolina.

So I am a little irritated when snow predictions for my area this Saturday are anywhere from 1 - 4 inches of snow, and we didn't get enough snow to make one snowball. Really, I think you would have had to scoop up a block's worth of snow to be able to produce one.

Most irritating was the time I had to spend on the phone with persons concerned about their Saturday appointments, and having to get folks to come in late Friday, early Saturday, or a future date all based on these idiot weather forecasts.

I know weather forecasts aren't an exact science. However I think at 8 a.m. on Saturday when your forecasts were saying a rain and snow mix by 10 a.m. and then all snow by noon, when we didn't that mix until 3 p.m. is not acceptable. How can you be that wrong in forecasting where a storm will be in two hours?

I wish I could be that wrong in my job - and still have one.

^^^ No one told you to listen to the weather forecasts. If you don't like them then either study the weather so you can make your own decisions or keep your original plans and weather be damned. When predicting the future is an exact science then they will just make a computer program to do it and a whole boatload of weather people will be out of a job and then who will you bitch at? As it is I don't particularly care for weather fortunetelling but it pisses me off even more to hear people whine about it. Research and field study for me.

you weather cronies have said this over and over, and i'm frankly sick of hearing it. suppose you replaced weather forecasting with, say, medical advice you receive from a doctor. not too many people would be willing to accept mistakes then, would they? medicine isn't an exact science either, and no one is forcing anyone to receive medical treatment...but when a doc slips up even to a magnitude far less than modern weather forecasters, it's the fucking gallows pole for him.

And if you recall there was a great deal of variation in the forecasts for this storm due to it's potential to shift its track. I guess had it dropped 6" of snow then people would have bitched that they underestimated and therefore suck at their job. Some people just like bitching for the sake of doing so I suppose.
