they won't let you do that with cablecards since they hate everything even remotely related to cablecards (the FCC forces them to provide them to anyone who asks)

even though it takes 5 minutes to install them, they charge a $42.99 fee PER CARD for a truck roll, and half the time they call and cancel the appointment at the last minute because they say they don't have any.

i WISH i could go pick them up... but no. they make it as hard/expensive as possible to get them. it's kinda like the deal with MASN.

did you get HD Tivo? My boyfriend got one for Christmas, and Comcast (in Atlanta) wouldn't let him pick up the cable cards either. They ended up coming out 3 times just to get it right. It was so annoying and ridiculous....The people that come out have no idea what they're doing.

nah, i got a tivo series3 - a step up from the tivoHD

it's 20 minutes til and i haven't gotten a call yet... keeping my hopes up.

i told them to put a note on the work order for the tech to bring LOTS of cards (half of them are bad anyway). when he gets here i'll ask him if he's done this before, if he says no, i plan on doing it for him and teaching him how so there's 1 less clueless installer in the area.

if you call time warner 1 minute after they are late and tell them you took half a personal day to wait for their ass and you lost a hundred something bucks or whatnot cause of their dumbasses, they will give you credits in increments of 20 dollars.

thats how i ended up always going down to the office to pick up new boxes and change boxes and change remotes and get the new modem and all that shit. they missed 2 appointments and i told them i had i was going to have to work sick one day because of their shit. i only got like 2@$20 credits, but its something

My parents had internet phone installed, and got a DVR box last week. Window to show up was 3-5pm. Dude showed up at 5:08pm and left at .....................9:45pm.

Motherfucker was here for almost 5 hours! And in addition he couldn't get the new cable modem to work, when I showed back up he was babbling about "mozilla". So I simply unplugged everything and rebooted, viola! Good 'ol Time Warner.

I've had to schedule them to come out twice in the last month- they showed up promptly both times (closer to the earlier time in the window). They called earlier than their time scheduled. I don't know why, just lucky I guess.

and, like i suspected, TWC's customer service reps fucked up... even though i told them like 3 times that it was a series3 and i HAD to hvae 2 cards, they still put it down as a tivoHD and that i only needed 1 mcard... so he shows up with 1 mcard...

he's heading back to the warehouse to grab some s-cards, will be back in 30 minutes

and he's a nice guy too

i have somewhat profited from asshats being late for appointments. i got $40 off my first TWC bill because they were way late, and i bought some furniture from haverty's and they got here 30 minutes past their 4 hour window, so i got my $80 delivery fee back. still, i had to cancel a first date because of that.

so maybe i should say them being late saved me like $130.

tried 1 card, it would get EMMs, but wouldn't get auth
tried another card, it got auth, but hasn't gotten any EMMs

*sigh*

he left the 1 card in there to see if it will eventually pull EMMs
