with all due respect, wattage is about the least important thing in a guitar amp. especially if youre looking at solid state amps, high wattage is often sold to unknowing customers who think it means something.

What are you looking for sound wise, what will you be using the amp for (practice amp, coffee house gigs, Stadium Concerts?) and how much are you trying to spend?

^^ yeah, it's not meaningless, but if you're just rocking out around the house, there are lots of other things i'd be more concerned with. i mean, a 15W tube amp would work just fine (or a 30W if you're into overkill). even if you wanna play gigs, you can always run a line into a PA or something (although a 30W could work for small gigs). 1/23/2008 3:24:38 AM |

I got a really basic 15w practice amp at music go round in Cary for like $30 that has 3 band tone control and overdrive... but even with that I usually play through it to headphones... 1/23/2008 10:28:42 AM |

for what it's worth, the 15w amps i'm talking about are very different animals. 1/23/2008 1:12:34 PM |
