Quote : | "IVER HEATH, England (AP) -- "Quantum of Solace" is the title of the new James Bond film, the 22nd Bond adventure.
Daniel Craig, here in "Casino Royale," returns as James Bond in "Quantum of Solace."
The title was revealed to reporters Thursday at Pinewood Studios outside of London, where the movie is being filmed.
Daniel Craig is returning as Agent 007. He picks up where 2006's "Casino Royale" left off, with Bond contemplating revenge after his betrayal by his true love, Vesper Lynd.
Filming began at Pinewood Studios earlier this month. Location shooting is planned in Austria, Italy and Panama. Judi Dench returns as the MI-6 boss M and Mathieu Amalric ("The Diving Bell and the Butterfly") plays the villain. Additions to the cast include Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko as mysterious Bond girl Camille.
"Quantum of Solace" is due to open in Britain and the United States on November 7. " |

yeah, after how good Casino Royale was (I felt like they almost did for James Bond what Batman Begins did for the previous batmans), I will definately be seeing this in the theater.
Also... I feel like a nub, the title of the thread should be :"Quantum of Solace"..., I apologize for the mistype there.

I was extremely skeptical of Daniel Craig before I saw Casino Royale but that was an incredible movie, despite that one dude being pretty much the Prince of Persia. That being said, I'll definitely be seeing this one.

Quantum of Solace is the title of one of the short stories in For Your Eyes Only. It's not even about Bond...it's about Bond having a drink with the Governor of Nassau at a dinner party during Bond's vacation. Bond hates the social setting and is annoyed by the people there and so the Governor tells him a story about some poor guy who marries the girl of his dreams. She turns out to be a total bitch and ultimately cheats on him and screws him over pretty bad. The dude eventually gets his revenge and pretty much ruins her life back as much as he possibly can. The title of the story comes from the Governor's self-observed "Law of the Quantum of Solace" which states that relationships between men and women can survive anything so long as some kind of basic humanity exist between the two people in the relationship.
Probably one of my favorite James Bond readings. It's not too long and it's pretty captivating, so if you find the opportunity I'd recommend reading it. There's not a lot of action, but you get a lot of insight about Bond's opinion about people and relationships in general, as well as Bond coming to the realization that maybe the lives of seemingly-normal people can be as exciting as his. It doesn't quite end the way you think it should, but like I said...one my favorite stories.
I doubt/hope they don't try to adapt or include any of the story in the movie--it just wouldn't work.

yeah before I even scrolled down this far I was thinking that was actually an UMP
+1 for UMP45 because of the stock and the lack of tapering toward the end of the barrel/beginning of the supressor
+0.5 for MP5 because of the banana clip wheras most UMPs have a straight clip, though it wouldn't be a stretch at all to think there are banana style clips for the UMP

it's the ump9 variant. the .45 magazines are straight while the 9mm aren't. also the iron sights are nothing like that of the mp5.

All the Pierce Brosnan Bond flicks - with the exception of Goldeneye - sucked. Not his fault. Just that the direction the writers/producers/execs were going would have ended up with Batman and Robin 2 if they continued. I'll never forget the part with Halle Berry and Brosnan laying down covertly near an airport, observing enemy activity through binoculars. After panning a view of jeeps, airplanes, and men talking, she removes the binoculars and says astutely to Bond: "Vehicles." That moment gave me a new realization - after I finished chuckling - that I didn't even know why I was watching the movie. It was like watching a ninja turtles cartoon. 3/23/2008 9:44:52 PM |

Goldeneye was good because it had a really spectacular story which also helped to propel the video game into fame (in addition to the fact that that was an awesome game). All the other movies had weak stories, I think, perhaps with the exception of The World Is Not Enough. But yeah, those movies were generally pretty weak and the action got really repetitive and predictable. Brosnan was a good Bond, but those movies sucked for the most part.
That being said, I really enjoyed Casino Royale. It was a fresh take on the Bond series and the action was really good and never seemed boring like in the past few iterations. Craig was a much better Bond than I thought he would be and the story tied together very well with the action. It never felt forced and despite the fact that they were playing poker for over an hour in the movie, it never felt boring. The plot seemed realistic and believable and the characters actually had depth which is very rare for a Bond movie. I hope they continue that trend with the new movie.
BTW, people who didn't like Casino Royale are probably the same people who like The Marine because of all the action it had. 3/23/2008 11:42:19 PM |

I know exactly what a bond movie is supposed to be. I owe 15 of them on DVD and have seen every single one. But to establish a new storyline and go back to the beginning I think you have to do something a little different.3/24/2008 12:26:28 PM |
