I look at all that "withheld" money and wonder if I'll ever see it again.

i was okay not knowing exactly how much was missing, and just being aware that i wasn't getting all of my paycheck.

but now that i've seen it, i miss it.

god knows if we're getting anything back this year. first year filing as married, though i think we're filing separately.

if we get that 300/person or whatever, it's going straight to paying off credit cards. or it's going straight into the san diego 2009 trip fund. or maybe 50/50 both are important causes

what the amount you've mentioned that both of you make, it'd prlly be more advantageous to file jointly.

make sure you carefully scrutinize the different tiers you'd be in

No benefit in filing separately anymore. They used to give you less of a deduction if you were married but now it's the same deduction 2 single people would get.

I haven't gotten any W-2s yet, but I don't see what the complaining is about. We live in a great country with an incredible infrastructure. I'm personally willing to pay those taxes to ensure that all of the government services we depend on are there tomorrow when I wake up.

combining will put him a tier up.

we'll probably run 'em both (together and separate) to see how it looks and then file whichever is more appropriate.

I'd have much less of a problem giving money to the government if they were more responsible with it.

Do you get the W2 in the mail or do they hand it out at work? Before this job all my jobs were temporary and ended before W2s were sent, so I always got them in the mail. I'd prefer to get it at work, with my concerns about mail theft.

when i was working in high school, getting a W-2 was depressing to me because it would show how much of a free loan i had given to uncle sam
