I'm going to have to agree...gather your fortitude, man.

My husband was completely clueless how much I loved him when we were just friends. I literally had to spell it out for him. It's paid off though...been together for over 3.5 years as a couple, going on our second year of marriage in April.

to you it is.

there is a big difference between how guys spell it out, and how girls think they spell it out to guys.

More like..."Is there a reason you have failed to ask me on a date, thus far?" Then I asked him on a date.

You have dated mcfluffle. You know better than to make such statements. Granted, she's not quite as forthright as me, but what you seem to think 'spelling it out' means to us is really 'kinda telling it'.

'spelling it out' means saying it in such a way that there is absolutely no room for misunderstanding, ambiguity, or opacity, and then sticking around in case he has questions.

Example:

Some women hint to their man they wanna do something in the bedroom. I fucking tell him. We were making out, and I said "I like bondage" instead of a girl putting a scarf or some shit on a bed. That's the difference between "telling" and "spelling it out"

Anh, I don't do much in the way of cursing or blaspheming. My way was about as straight forward as I get.

I suppose it doesn't really matter how we got to the married part; it didn't matter that I had to do the pushing for that first date. The big thing was I didn't just sit on how I was feeling. I knew back then that if I didn't take the first step I would forever regret being a chicken. Turns out from later conversations he had been too scared to take the first step because he knew it would be a serious relationship (we'd been friends a long while prior).

Have a little faith and give it a shot.

If you don't have a chance with this person, bury your feelings and move on. If you have a chance.....I've never made it that far.

being rejected by someone you love probably yields the most abject, horrible feelings imaginable.

f'real.

trick: don't fall in love.

truth: you're going to anyway.

^ thats true, but there is also something to be said for knowing what the other person thinks (even if its not what you want) and being able to move on

the key there is being "able" to move on. there are billi0ns of degrees of attachment, intensity of feelings. granted, if you've never been involved with said person, it ought to be easier to move the hell on.

i would rather know how the person feels so at least you can move forward, keeping yourself guessing just kinda keeps you in limbo for a while.
