Not a parody, a real trip.

Going in March for Thurs - Sunday. Any places that is a must go? I've never been to California before and need some help.

Hang out with bums at the 3rd Street Promenade.
Find any and all drugs in Venice.
Pac-10 BBall tourney in mid-March.
LA Zoo unless it burned down.
My2Cents house.

^ yeah it's over ACC/PAC 10 tourney weekends... I'm afraid I'll miss the games

And since I'm flying on Thursday, I'm sure I'll miss our only game

Staples Center is like 15 miles away but it will take you two hours to get there.

Sonny McClean's is at 26th and Wilshire, good dive bar and has East Coast seafood. In all honesty, Santa Monica is kind of a dump.....

Well pay attention to what the other thread has in it because Santa Monica and Irvine are pretty much the same vacation spots in terms of tourism. They are ~ an hour apart... mostly due to traffic.

you can say hey to my aunt & uncle for me (newport beach)

if you like skiing, bear mountain is only about a 2 hr drive

or if you prefer the beach, there are more than enough to choose from along the coast

or you can go kayaking or rent a jet ski or boat (though if you get a jet ski, id suggest getting a wetsuit)

you can also be a real tourist by driving around to see celebrity houses & look for celebrities

Pasting this from another thread that I posted in a couple months ago because it's way too fucking early in the morning for coherent thoughts:

----
I lived in Santa Monica for a couple years recently, so I'll add a few things...

The pier in Santa Monica is worth seeing, but Venice is a more tourist-friendly beach area, perhaps (visit both imo). The 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica is a major tourist trap, but you should check it out at least once anyway (excellent farmer's market every Wednesday and Saturday morning too). Also, check out Fred Segal at 5th and Broadway for the ultimate boutique shopping experience. There's also great shopping on Montana Avenue in northern Santa Monica, roughly between 7th Street and 17th Street (the area has a very cool vibe too). For the best burger in the entire world (not kidding) -- and an insane selection of amazing beer -- hit Father's Office at 10th and Montana (I cannot overstate the awesomeness of Father's Office...it is simply incredible). Personally, I don't think that there is a more delightful part of LA than Santa Monica (which is why I chose to live there ), so if you have the time to spare, I would definitely recommend exploring the town.
----

I'll try to throw together something more in-depth later today. And hopefully my2cents won't show up to defecate all over this thread.
