if it all comes down to how delegates or super delegates vote?
This is not democracy. This is crap!!!!!

I was listening to Talk of the Nation today and there was a segment on super delegates and my leading question was not cleared up.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=18482789

I know other people feel this same way.

You should have hidden the address to that link because two things come to mind when I see the letters NPR in sequence:

1) Liberal Propaganda and,
2) Liberal Propaganda

Their sole purpose on the radio is to cry about how unfair life is and try to get listeners to do the same.

well, they did not do that this time.

I have been listening/reading different things other than just NPR to try to figure out why we are called a democracy when the popular vote counts for NOTHING!

I know we are supposed to Rock the Vote or what ever other crap campaign there is out there but why should I if delegates already know who they are voting for and it does not change even when the conventions come together.

That to me does not make sense.

well, technically a direct democracy is the direct election of the president.

The way we do things now is a democracy, just not a direct one.

^ '72 is when all the reforms took place, right?

I thought Ron Paul was still on there. He has a few delegates backing him.

i just love how we're one party away from being not even needing to bother with a vote

give our country some more time and we'll streamline this voting process to the point where we won't even need to vote

edit: i dont count 3rd parties due to the insane loopholes theyre asked to jump through just to get on the ballot in most states

it only makes sense that in a country with 300 million people, one vote doesn't make a lot of difference--if you really want to influence an election, you have to persuade groups of people to vote for something en masse

at the very least, your vote negates someone else's vote

at most, it'll actually count

But I think all this just makes your vote count even more.
