Are retarded. Do people still expect to get these things? If not, what a waste of time the last hour has been. 1/29/2008 10:27:08 AM |

weddings are pretty much the only thing you need to do them for.
unless someone just did something really really nice for you and you aren't an asshat. 1/29/2008 10:29:58 AM |

Thank you notes are only necessary if they're going to an old person. They only get value and pleasure out of them. Everyone else just wastes their time reading them. Old people have time to waste. 1/29/2008 10:31:02 AM |

I have to send them to my entire family for Christmas and birthday. Pretty much any gift I ever get. 1/29/2008 10:33:04 AM |

Most people would enjoy a thank-you note that's actually thoughtful instead of just the form, "Thank you for ____. I like it because ____. It was nice of you." or whatever. It's only really easy to do those if the gift is equally thoughtful, though. 1/29/2008 10:33:23 AM |

I have two types of store-bought on hand, and if something REALLY special comes up, I give my mom a call, and ask her to make me some. 1/29/2008 11:08:32 AM |

I don't feel that people expect to get them, except for weddings and graduations. An unexpected thank you note can really make someone feel appreciated for their kindness. 1/29/2008 11:13:04 AM |

I sent them for graduation. Dont really send them for birthday or christmas gifts. usually a casual phonecall takes care of that.
hopefully i'll do them one more time after i get married and then my lucky lady will take care of the rest. 1/29/2008 11:16:28 AM |

Yeah I filled them out for my graduations and will for my wedding. The best way to look at is you're are getting a lot of money/gifts for a little bit of your time. I mean I hate doing them too but it is a small price to pay. 1/29/2008 11:16:57 AM |

I wrote a thank you note for a Christmas gift I received this year. First time ever.
