There were a lot of aggravating factors there that don't exist in most of society. The riots were mostly started by gangs who had a huge amount of control over the area to begin with. When people see someone getting a free tv they tend to join in.

I'd say that as long as America is mildly prosperous you'll never see anything like this on a massive scale. Look at most revolutions and you'll find that they usually occur when the government puts a heavy burden on people who are already in dire circumstances. The super rich are actually better off when society prospers because the more we make/spend the more they will make from us. There is no reason for them to enslave us or take everything from us when they are better off with us happily working our lives away for them.

As the only person on this board to have actually been IN the riots....I can assure you of a few things:

A) It was cool....because school was cancelled.

B) It was not cool, because there was a city wide curfew.

C) The roof of our house was a good spot to watch.

D) We had plans to loot the Gap, but we were all talk.

F) It showed just how fucking stupid the population of that part of L.A. is.

G) My dad kept his gun with him at all times.
