I've been noticing farm truck tags on fancy suv's, trucks that have fiberglass covers over the beds and no trailer hitches, etc... I keep farm tags on one of my trucks but on my daily driver I don't because it's illegal to use it for any non-farm purpose. how do so many people get away with this? It seems like a lot of wannabe hobby farmers use them as status symbols.

the way i read the law it was pretty strict and you had to be actually pulling a trailer or somehow using the truck to haul farm related cargo whenever it was on the road. I haven't noticed this, but I'll start looking more

I imagine so many people get away with this because law enforcement isn't too concerned about it as no attention has been drawn to it.

Same way people used to use that tax break to buy big SUV's and say they were a work related purchase (then they'd write off 80% of the value of the SUV or something ridiculous like that). They used those as their daily driver mom wagons and for driving to the office. It's a fairly open loophole that lets people exploit the system for their own personal gain.

People get away with this because they have a lot of money, and politicians like to keep these people happy. If you bitch enough you could probably make something happen.

everything we have with farm tags has bad brakes, worn out steering and no airbags. Im wearing the damn seatbelt.
