I am so ready for the new season, and excited about how all the changes are going to play out!

This info will be needed later, but just to clear it up: (If you have participated in this thread in the past, you understand why :beatup
I am a Hendrick Motorsports fan, and always have been.
I have not been a Dale Jr. fan, but am interested (and hesitant) to see how he does with this team.
I would love to see Jimmie Johnson go 3 in a row, but would like to see Jeff Gordon get his 5th win.

Anyone else have high hopes for this season? Only 13 days left till the season begins!

^^^I am kind of the opposite. Always been a big Earnhardt fan but not a huge Hendrick fan. But I am VERY happy he is with them now and can't wait for Daytona now that he's in a reliable (and fast) car. I might even start to tone down my dislike for Gordon and Johnson.

Hopefully Waltrip can consistently qualify so can enjoy watching.. even if he does wreck in atleast 50% of the races

Poor Waltrip! I hope his situation gets better too. I've always liked his personality and style. Plus, the Napa commercials are awesome! Especially the ones with the little kids wearing the Waltrip wigs!

Lots of interesting things as the new season starts:

Will Joe Gibbs Racing, with three strong drivers, bring Toyota wins and a championship?

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has a lot to prove. If he falters early and Gordon and Johnson remain strong, he may be relegated to being the next Kyle Petty.

Will the COT provide us with thrilling races, or will the rules have to be constantly tweaked?

Michael Waltrip Racing is going to have qualify and run well to exist past this season.

I think Toyota will get a couple wins (who are the main drivers, Stewart, Kyle and Denny?) but not a championship

Its hard to bet against Hendrick winning it

The way Hendrick Motorsports dominated COT races last year, I hope they have kept their advantage... (other teams did research.... then again so did hendrick)

I have never been a Jr fan, but much like Randy moss ending up on the patriots and TO on the Cowboys they seem like different people, I would love to see Jr be hugely successful. Maybe Hendrick will run 1-2-3, and if Casey Mears picks it up..... maybe 1-2-3-4 in the 500.....

Just saying what I'd like to see

^^^^^ LOL at Jr being the next Kyle Petty...I'm afraid he has already done more in 1 decade than Kyle has done in 3 (Daytona 500 win, made the Chase a couple times, 17 wins compared to Kyle's 8, 2 Busch titles...)

If Hendrick really wants a monopoly he should fire Casey Mears after 08 and put Tony Stewart in that car.

The Gibbs cars were strong at the Cali/Vegas Test. At Cali, there were 5 sessions. Thurs morn/afternoon/night and Fri morn/afternoon. You could run 4 of the 5 sessions. The Gibbs cars ran Thursday morning and afternoon, then loaded up and went to the house. Denny Hamlin's A and B cars were 1 and 2 on the sheet. They looked pretty stout.

I'm really hoping the Gillett Evernham cars have something for 'em this year.

I think this is strong evidence that all Jr. really needed was a car that would drive as hard as him without blowing up.

I suppose it remains to be seen if it can stand the lead foot for 500 miles.

It was good to see Earnhardt win the Shootout, but let's see how he does in a full race or three before we celebrate too much.

Congrats to Waltrip on being on the front row for the Daytona 500.

Definitely a good job for Earnhardt, but he almost always does well at the shootout. We need to see him in a couple more races (full races) before we can really tell how well he's going to be.

This is one Kenseth's better qualifications at Daytona. Should be a good race if the Rousch engines hold up and Stewert doesn't do anything ridiculous to wreck half the pack.

I'm not saying Jr. is going to dominate the season although I certainly wouldn't rule him out dominating the restrictor plate races in a good car. I'm all about Jimmie Johnson ever since I worked at Lowe's when I was in college but it had been a long drought for Jr. and I like the guy. I was happy to see him win and I'd like to see him start enjoying some of the success of the other Hendrick drivers if for no other reason than to throw it in Teresa's face. I enjoy watching Jr. race because he's been 100% balls out at every event I've ever been to. I like his style and his attitude, he seems like a throwback to me. I don't believe he's as careful and calculated as Jeff & Jimmie which may have cost him a lot of races over the years but I enjoy watching someone go for broke for love of the sport.

^^okay aside from deleting my post for reasons unknown, can you answer this...

Do you actually believe that if Dale Jr. "dominates" this year it has anything to do with his cars at DEI versus his cars at Hendrick?

Of course I think that if he dominates anything it will have something to do with his cars. Having 10 or so cars blow up last year will hurt your performance.

I deleted your post because this is my favorite thread in ST and I don't feel like reading your trolling shit. Take it somewhere else.

what do yall think of my tentative fantasy lineup this week for my team, Kenny Schrader's Shake'nBakers:

A List

Jeff Gordon 0/9
Jimmie Johnson 0/9

B List

Mark Martin 0/9
Dale Earnhardt Jr. 0/9
Kyle Busch 0/9
Martin Truex Jr. 0/9

C List

Ken Schrader 0/9
Michael Waltrip 0/9

kind of tough this early in the season but i figured Johnson and Gordon are always good picks...I steered clear of Kurt and Tony this week just cause of their "probation" although that might be a deterrent for a potential wreck that might now be avoided because of the probation

i did the wral fantasy.
you try to pick the top 10 spots.
you get points if the driver falls in the top 10
you get bonus points if the driver lands on his spot

i think wral used like your 15 or something best races and added up the points. overall winner got a richard petty driving school.

whoever had the highest points after each race wins a nascar watch

The most awesome thing I saw at a race last year was a fan getting kicked out for throwing a nearly full beer at Jimmie Johnson's car when he was doing his victory lap.

haha take that, cocksucker.
