Supposedly, Marlon Wayan's character (of all the people in the world...) plays the lead and is the "leader" of the Joes. I don't know what to think, but I really hope they don't screw this one up.

Current word is that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is cast to play Cobra Commander. I like him as an actor, but this does not fill me with confidence whatsoever.

Now, Ray Park, on the other hand, is probably the most brilliant cast in the entire world to play Snake Eyes.

Marlon Wayans' character Ripcord is not going to lead the Joes. That'll be done by Duke. Supposedly, Dennis Quaid has been cast as Hawk.

i gar-un-fucking-tee you they fuck this up. they will go the route of transformers and make it cheesy and childish with too much CGI, and it will suck. They will do this because they will want to make it interesting to the children today instead of catering to the fans of our generation who are now adults who would prefer a hardcore violent action movie instead of a cheesy 80s throwback with marketing appeal. Hollywood sucks ass.

IMO casting for the villains is the most important aspect for trying to make this a successful movie... that is if there even is a possible way to make it successful.

I didn't know who this was either. I checked her out on imdb. It's pretty bad when they have to pad out "works" they've been in with late night/ award show appearances.

Like I said. There's no way they could pull this off to begin with. I'm thinking the Street Fighter: The Movie and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation level of terrible. But given their casting choices it doesn't look very encouraging.

Well, if you're really curious to read all the latest rumors and such, I recommend http://www.hisstank.com. They had a script review up a few days ago, and Paramount asked them to take it down since it supposedly was the very latest version.

I'm not quite sure why the name Heavy Duty is being used instead of Roadblock. Last I read, it was still Roadblock. I hope this doesn't change.

I just can't imagine what Gordon-Levitt is going to do with Cobra Commander, if that rumor is indeed true. I always imagined someone much older playing the Commander. Maybe someone like Gary Oldman. But, admittedly, GI Joe is not really a good "career match" for someone of his caliber. Hell, you never really see the Commander's face anyway, so perhaps it won't matter too much.

I'm not expecting great things out of this. Still, though, Ray Park as Snake Eyes is just a ridiculously good fit. I'm more excited about that than any other aspect of the whole movie.
