It's exactly like scrabble.
Because it does a few things:
1. Infuriates the opponent, especially when I open the game with:
E L
2. If you play defensively you can block off all the bonuses
3. You can make stuff like:
T E L M N O E T
Where EL, NO, LO, NOE, ME, TEN, LOT, are all separate moves.

this strategy only works when you implement a timer into the game as well
though i havent played literati in forever, so do they even still allow you to play w/ a timer?
if they still do, then you should rarely lose with this strategy
