Ok so I bought a second SATA DVD drive to go along with my current SATA DVD-RW but there is only one SATA data cable inside my Dell. Do I need to purchase a SATA data cable that connects dual drives, do they make them, or is there a second SATA connection on my motherboard for just another standard cable (which I didnt see)?

only one drive per cable..

there should be another sata port you can connect to, find it then go buy a cable.

make sure you also have a second sata power connector available or another 4pin molex to sata adapter available as well

what model dell? Mine (about 2 years old) came with 4 SATA ports plus 2 IDE ports. There were not enough SATA power connectors, so you may need to use an adapter or splitter.

Its a Dell Inspiron 530. Actually there is a second power cord attached to the one for the first drive, just no data cable. Of course I live in butt-crack Oklahoma with no stores that sell SATA cables so I guess Ill just order one from Newegg.
