I saw them live at the Stewart Theatre on Saturday night--they were awesome. If you ever get a chance to see them perform, I highly recommend it.

And Earl Maneein on the seven-string violin--with monster metal effects--was the shit!

"DBR & The Mission: SQ Unit

When: Tue, Oct 7, 8pm – 10pm

Where: Stewart Theatre, Talley Student Center

Our February 2008 concert by DBR & The Mission was the runaway hit of the season! Daniel Bernard Roumain (aka DBR) is a composer, violinist and bandleader who seamlessly blends funk, rock, hip-hop and classical music into a new personal sonic vision. DBR returns for an encore concert with his SQ Unit — that would be the string quartet for purists. This wide-open, genre-jumping ensemble feels as much at home in a dance club as it does in a concert hall. Pre-show discussion, 6:45pm. Three ways to order tickets: - in person: 2nd floor, Talley Student Center - by phone: (919) 515-1100 - online: [on sale July 14th]"

Look, please go see this band. If you do, I promise that you'll come back here and thank me.

BTW, the performance is the night before Fall Break, so it'll be good timing.
