I just recently got a new wireless router (my computer is connected to it both by the wireless, and a cable) and my internet seems to go on and off every minute or so while im downloading stuff and every few minutes while im not. Is there a setting or something that could be causing this?

i have had problems today with RR connecting to some websites. i did a tracert and it was timing out in the washington d.c. area so it might be twc hiccups.

I have Verizon DSL here and it's awful.

i think it's comcast (cable) / verizon (dsl) in DC area.

check to see if your modem lights say online when you lose internet access or not, it could tell you at least if it's a service issue or a computer issue.

if you have comcast, they're tech support is pretty good (over the phone at least)
