"Santa Monica, CA – February 15, 2008 – Fire up the fret board, crank the amp to 11 and get ready to rock this way with Activision, Inc.’s (Nasdaq: ATVI) Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith®, the first game built around the legendary music of America’s Greatest Rock ‘N Roll Band: Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer. Slated for release this June, this latest installment from the franchise with the #1 best-selling video game in 2007, puts players in the shoes of Perry (guitar), Whitford (guitar) and Hamilton (bass), as they rock out alongside frontman Tyler and drummer Kramer. Gamers will experience Aerosmith’s GRAMMY® winning career, from their first gig to becoming rock royalty, in a way that no other entertainment vehicle offers.

To celebrate this historic, ground-breaking collaboration, Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock fans will have the opportunity to download and jam to Aerosmith’s “Dream On.” The song will be available for free from February 16-18 on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®Store for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. For more information, please visit http://www.guitarhero.com.

“Having a game built around Aerosmith has been a huge honor and really a great experience for us,” says Joe Perry. “We’ve put a lot of ideas into the game so that fans can have fun interacting with our music, getting inside our body of work and learning about the band’s history.”

Steven Tyler says, “Any band that can go from ‘Don’t Want to Miss A Thing’ (Aerosmith’s #1 smash hit) to the ass-kicking ‘Sweet Emotion’ to the cheekiness of ‘Love in an Elevator,’ to the classic ballad ‘Dream On’ shows why Activision chose us to headline this game based on the diversity of the Aerosmith catalog. Not only is songwriting a bitch, but then it goes and has puppies.”

Perry adds, “On a larger scale, it’s cool for us to be pioneers helping to rebuild the music industry through a format like video games. It’s great for rock since the record companies are struggling to make sense of how things are changing. Fans want to get and experience music in new formats--and there are going to be some of them who will play the game, then pick up the guitar for real and start bands. It’s what’s happening now, and it’s only going to build more momentum in the future. It’s a massive change for the music business.”

“We are extremely excited that Aerosmith chose to team up with Guitar Hero, bringing one of the world’s all-time best-selling artists together with one of the biggest video game brands, to deliver a new and unique interactive way for our customers to connect with artists and their music,” said Dusty Welch, head of publishing for Activision/RedOctane. “This partnership will give Aerosmith, a band that has sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, a powerful and innovative platform to reach their fans and new audiences.”

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith brings these quintessential rock legends to the interactive realm to create the ultimate gaming experience. As fans progress through their careers in the game, they can rock out to scores of Aerosmith’s greatest hits, as well as songs from celebrated artists that the band has either performed with or has been inspired by in some way. Venues from historical moments during the band’s illustrious career offer the experience of “sweet emotion” and further capture the essence of the band’s rise to fame.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is being developed by Neversoft Entertainment for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. The Wii™ version is being developed by Vicarious Visions. The PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system version is being developed by Budcat. The game is not yet rated by the ESRB."

If it's anything like the band the game will be pretty awesome at first, but then get more and more mediocre as you progress through the game.

So...why do we need a separate game for this? Couldn't this have been DLC? Just slap a few new characters up there, and a song set, and you're done

no need to require people to pay another $60 for some aerosmith songs

this is probably why RB will beat out GH

This is the same company that charges $2.99 per track for their DLC, even though it only includes 1/4 of the content of Rock Band's DLC (no Bass, Drum, or Vocal tracks). They also force you to buy the entire pack to get a single song.

Viva la Rock Band!

Not that Metallica is my favorite band, and Lars is an asshole, but they'd be a much better choice than fucking Aerosmith.

It's the THIRD Aerosmith game.

I don't have anything against Aerosmith, but no way would I buy this. I like GH and RB for the variety of artists and styles on them, and I don't think I could ever listen to a whole album's worth of Steven Tyler in one sitting, much less play their game for hours on end like I do for the other Guitar Heros.

I haven't even gotten GH Rocks the 80's, because even with all the different artists on it, it's still all 80's music. No way could I get a game that's all one artist, unless it's one I *really* love. Even then I'd probably get tired of it sooner than the regular GH sequels.

GH: Bass Guitar

"Play the bass notes to all of your favorite songs from GH 1, 2! Also, look for the upcoming GH: Bass Guitar 2 that let's you play bass from GH 3 and Rock the 80's!"

GH: DLC

"Get ready to rock with the version of GH that gives you unlimited possibilities! Now you can play some of the downloadable content that we've released over the years! Unfortunately, the tracks will be the exact same, and multiplayer has been disabled, but it's still worth it!"

GH: Groupie

"Have a favorite band? Ever go to the shows only to wish you could play along with your favorites? Well now you can! This edition of GH will show you the tracks of your favorite songs, and you'll see how the band members would play it! You can use your guitar to 'play along', but your buttons actually will not register on the screen. You don't actually jump up on the stage when your idols are playing now do you! DLC will include the ability to change the color of your idol's guitar (5000 points), or the ability to unlock each individual button so that you can actually play the song! (15000 points per button, 45000 for strum)"

GH3 was my last GH purchase I have determined

AEROSMITH-ONLY EDITION OF GUITAR HERO COMING
Friday, February 15th, 2008 at 1:43pm by Axl Rosenberg

CHUD reports that a new version of Guitar Hero, featuring Aerosmith songs exclusively (or at least almost exclusively - a couple of songs by other bands may or may not be included) will hit stores later this year. The game will start with Aerosmith’s fist ever gig and take you all the way through their career to today… which means you’ll be able to stop playing around the time you get to the Get a Grip-era (a.k.a. the time most people realized the band had lost all their talent, if they had not already realized that earlier).

As a promotional tool for the game, those of you who already own GHIII will be able to download “Dream On” for free from February 16-18. Actually, that really might be the only song you need, thereby negating any desire to fork over sixty bucks for the whole game.

I might be much excited if that photo didn’t have the Nine Lives pussy in it.

jesus christ i could make a 50 track list off of about half a dozen Aerosmith albums...i wonder how they're going to choose the best stuff with all the great music released over the years

hell, you could make two GH games off the albums released up to (and including) "Pump"...i can only hope they include the "Dulcimer Stomp" before "The Other Side"

as far as RB goes...yeah, they're much better about DLC, but honestly half the shit they've released is not interesting. of course 30 songs in rock band is likely to cost you $60 anyway, so no big whoop

goalielaxative was just whining again about shit he is clueless about, like me being a redneck, which if you remotely know me, you know I am just about the farthest thing possible from a redneck, and he claimed that LSU was a slow team, in fact, the slowest in the SEC, which if you have a very basic knowledge of college football you know that if anything LSU is the fastest team in the SEC and probably the country.

anyways, I was just messing around with the video game comment, I dont want to fill up your thread arguing with his ignorant ass. Carry on.

From a cached Synopsis on bestbuy.com (has since changed description)

Quote :
"Synopsis

Just like rock 'n' roll, Aerosmith lives on. But the band didn't always enjoy the fame and fortune it does today. See what it was like for these once-unknown musicians to skyrocket to stardom in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. This adventure for the amazing Guitar Hero series lets you drum like Joey Kramer, wield an axe like Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, bring up the bottom like bassman Tom Hamilton and belt out vocals like the legendary Steven Tyler. Unlike the real band, you won't have to endure years of touring and endless hours on stage. Just pick up your instrument and play, or put the mic in your hand and sing.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith challenges you to progress to the top by performing in the same venues as the band once did throughout its illustrious career. Crank out beloved classics like Sweet Emotion and Dream On, or master more recent hits such as Love in an Elevator and Don't Want to Miss a Thing. No matter which tune you try, you and your friends will have hours of fun emulating these famous rock legends. They've been a household name for decades, and you're a Guitar Hero wannabe. How will you measure up to a band that's sold more than 150 million albums worldwide?

Features

* Challenges you to perform the music of the legendary Aerosmith
* Features well-known favorites such as Sweet Emotion, Dream On, Love in an Elevator and Don't Want to Miss a Thing
* See if you can drum like Joey Kramer, play guitar like Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, play bass like Tom Hamilton and sing like Steven Tyler
* Improve your in-game career by performing in the same venues as Aerosmith once did
* See how you compare to a band that's sold more than 150 million albums
"

Guess it was only a matter of time before they jumped on the wagon

And i'm sure, if this is true, that the RB stuff won't work with this, and they'll expect gamers to drop another $170 for brand new equipment

I would hope not

I have a bitter taste in my mouth with Activision right now, because they just came out with 3, already pulling this game out in June, and there was a band (see below) that has confirmed they were signed on for GHIV with a 2008 release.

It's getting to the point now that these companies are so ridiculously greedy they can't even wait a full year to push out another game

Quote :
"British rock act The Answer has revealed in a press release that their song Never Too Late has been selected as one of the tracks to appear in Guitar Hero IV, which the band claims will be released in 2008.

The track was chosen from a list of over 200 at the Marché international de l’édition musicale, held in late January. Activision and a panel of experts allegedly chose just 20 songs from the entrants provided by record labels."

http://www.playstatic.com/news/1169

so unless that is an unlockable song for the Aerosmith version of the game, they are already working on yet another
