Just in case anyone was considering getting it done, I did yesterday and it seems to have been a success so far. I got it because i couldn't watch tv without squinting horribly and I hate wearing glasses because I scratch them and break them too often. Contacts were out of the question because I can't even look at my own eyes in the mirror they're so sensitive, it's ridiculous.

Anyway, I went to TLC Center which is also paired with Kelly Eye Center (two different offices, same doctors). I wasn't too nervous when i went in but I didn't decline the Xanax and I'm glad. When I got into the operating room they handed me a stuffed purple hippo. I didn't think I'd need it at first but by the end of the procedure I was glad it hadn't been a live puppy cause I'm pretty sure I choked it for 5 straight minutes.

The eye suction is the MOST uncomfortable machine I've ever encountered and it pretty much just sucks your eyeball out so it can't move. I didn't feel the flap being formed or the laser afterwards so it was just the 15 min of being uncomfortable and then it was over. I didn't have any problems afterward even though the doctor seemed 100% it would feel like stinging or uncomfortable, I was fine. Today was blurry when I woke up but now I can definitely tell improvement in my reading although I'm not trying to do it too much.

Hope that encourages anyone who was on the fence about it or who was looking into a place to get it done.

if i try and look into my own eyes, they water up uncontrollably...same with trying to put in contacts, they have a mind of their own and shut themselves

just for my diagnostic tests the techs had to hold my eyes open

he's basicially saying that he's a wuss that's afraid of his own shadow and can't put drops in their eyes with being restrained.

While the post is informative, I'm taking this with a grain of salt by someone who can't 'look at their own eyes.' I'm sure it doesn't help that they're grabbing your eyeballs but it's hard to take that seriously.
