thoughts on these gyms?
They're both close to work for me so that's a big plus for going after or before work. And I still only live like 12 minutes away during none traffic hours so it's still good location on weekends and what not.
I've been in Lifestyle and it would suffice as far as the facilities go. I'm not necessarily looking for all the features/glossed over look they have but the quote they gave me for the basic membership seemed fair and the fact that it's month to month is good.
I haven't been in World Gym at all.
I'm looking for info. like how crowded (equipment availability) it is around 7am as well as like 6pm, upkeep of equipment, staff, etc.. Also price info. for world gym since I haven't actually been by there.
thanks 2/16/2008 3:53:08 PM |

World Gym has been around for decades now, so they'd be less likely to close up shop after taking your money. 2/16/2008 9:39:01 PM |

^ They are both big franchises so worrying about "closing up shop" seems a little paranoid.
Lifestyle fitness has been popping up everywhere. I actually spoke to a few guys that really like the Lifestyle gyms. I've been to World Gyms up north but not here in NC but they are like a Peak or Beyond Fitness type gym. 2/17/2008 8:19:48 AM |

^^there is a big difference between World Gym and Lifestyle. Lifestyle has more in common with Peak and Beyond, with only a handful of clubs across the country. World Gym is as extensive as Golds, with hundreds more locations than Lifestyle.
^I've gotten similar feedback on Lifestyle. The people that go to the one in Cary like it, but it's barely been there a year. People in Florida talk trash about them. 2/17/2008 10:17:22 AM |

i'm not really worried about lifestyle closing since it's month to month. The loss, in terms of fees, on my part wouldn't be enough for that to be a factor.
I'm going to stop by World Gym after work tomorrow to take a look around and get an idea of how busy it is. Any clue on World Gym's pricing and contract options? I'll find out tomorrow, but knowing beforehand may prevent me from wasting my time. 2/17/2008 12:26:12 PM |

some World gyms were experimenting with month to month pricing without contracts in other states, but I doubt that is going on in this area. You're probably looking at around $30 a month for a 1 year minimum contract. 2/17/2008 2:47:59 PM |

why do people in Florida talk trash about the Lifestyle Family Fitness in Cary? Maybe they're pissed off because the Cary gym is one of the nicest facilities our company has and all the Florida gyms are little shit holes? 2/17/2008 5:21:57 PM |

your gym in Cary will turn into another shithole gym in 2 years, just like the rest of the corporate fleet. 2/17/2008 9:29:07 PM |

went by world gym and it wasn't there. Anyone know if it moved or closed?
The sign is still on the outside of the shopping center. But there is no sign over the doorway. The doors still have the decals and the inside walls still say World Gym and what not but the place is bare. This is the one in the same shopping center as Jerry's art-o-rama, Jersey Mikes, etc.. 2/18/2008 6:31:02 PM |
