Hello if I don't know them very well, even if I have their name. Hello so and so if I know who they are and we work together/are friends, etc.

Usually I try to cater the greeting to the person in an effort to make them as uncomfortable as possible.

^i used to do the "Hiya Paaallllll" like joe pesci from Home Alone to one of my buddies.

if it's a certain group i just say 'whats goin on' or 'whats up'.

if its work, i usually say "this is jesse" if its directed from the secretary. if its direct, "excel, this is jesse"

if its the work nextel and the guys in the field its simply "Go head"

I use "hello mah love" quite often...

or "what are you doing"....

i'll throw in an occasional "hey there you sexy devil"

i don't answer numbers i don't know or people i don't like so there is no need for me to be formal on my phone

I usually say "Hello" or just start talking if I know the person. If its a number not in my phonebook I just answer with "This is Chris"

I used to just say "Hello." But now I say "Hello, this is Bryan" since clients or associates from work call me and sometimes don't know it's my mobile...

i dont give out my personal mobile # for work. Almost everyone in my industry uses a nextel so that is what i use if i am out of the office. I dont want to combine business and pleasure.

when i first had a cellphone, i got a call from a friend named burke. i picked up the phone and said "hey burke" and the guy was like "oh hey it's adam on burke's phone".

i never again tried to deviate from the standard "hello".

When I lived in MD, I used to say, "Holla!"

Since I've gotten a cell phone, It's evolved into an elongated, "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey," followed by a staccato version of the name of whoever's calling.

When I answer my cell or home phone I say "hello"- but on the school phone I say "yes?" haha. I don't know why.
