so, My truck's inspection is due in August 2008. However, I am about to move out of the state and keep the car registered and insured in NC. If I get the truck inspected this month, when will the next inspection be due?

I know if you get it inspected after it is due, they put a new sticker on with the same month as the old sticker... just wondering what happens if you do it early!

check the laws of the state to which you're moving to see whether or not you have to register the car in that state. for insurance & tax purposes, of course

unless it's easy for you to come back to get it inspected or you plan on coming back for other reasons than to get your car inspected - it's easier to have the car registered/insured in the new state

if its due in august 08, then it will be due 1 year from the date you inspect it, unless you inspect it after august.

if you inspect it july, then its due july 09, but if you inspect it october 08, then its still due august 08.

with the new laws, you dont want to take the chance in inspecting it late.

so if you get it inspected this month, its due next feb of 09

are you going to be a student in that new state

because you dont have to get your car inspected until the semester is over and if they hassle you, all you need is an unofficial transcript

^^thanks! Thats What I needed to know!

The car is actually registered in my Mothers name who will remain a resident of NC. I plan on taking the car with me to MA where car insurance is completely ridiculous. I just wanted to get the whole NC inspection thing out of the way so I don't have to worry about if for the year.

Just a thought.. I tried to have my car inspected early last year because i was going on vacation, and they wouldn't let me. I'm not sure if there was a wierd reason or not, but i was told that your car has to be inspected in the month on the sticker, just like you can't change what month your license plate is renewed every year.

i could have sworn ive had it done early, but this was couple years ago. before all the new rules.

but anyways, its one year from the date

[Edited on February 18, 2008 at 11:24 PM. Reason : so there might be a 90 window if you wanna get it done early, but it doesnt change the date. ]
